    Thanks Mike.

I looked up and found the 2 pairs that are being used. Very much appreciated.

Would you happen to know if the POE is passed on those same pairs or does it require a third pair for that to pass from a POE switch or the ME-Hub?

    All help is appreciated.

To expand on my thoughts a bit,

The physical preamp currently is labled by just a value, alphabetic/numeric. That feeds to almost all lines, either Dante, Gita-ace or other. And it is not editable. Make it a custom label that could feed those other lines. I often use a single socket to feed multiple DSP channel strips, Dante, or other lines that could benefit from not having to relabel throughout. Time could be saved and the confusion of conversion could go away if I could just change to the I/o labels instead of the DSP channel strip labels..

    Thanks for listening.

Tor, don’t mind Steffen R. He seems to be on a roll theses days. It’s easy for some of us to forget that the reason for the forum is to share and collaborate. I do often so I decided long ago I would troll often for answers and only respond when truly productive.

I agree entirely with you on the width selection. Another simple fix is just to make it accessible on the touch screen. A simple slider much like on the app for the Qu series. That would satisfy me.

This was one of the things I knew about even before I invested in the c-class. But well worth the investment even with this shortfall.

So I get it. And I understand it. If you understand the whole “gain tracking” concept it is easily understood. Has much too do with the engineer messing around with gain structure on a channel strip. When he does it, he can much alter the aux mix that the musician is using as a wedge or in ear mix. Auto gain compensation would track that engineers change and compensate for that change by automatically changing the Aux mix(s). This is a pretty old concept. Not sure why some are having a hard time understanding. But to answer the original Question, there is no gain tracking or compensation within the QU series. The D-Live(and former I-live) has Trim on the surface to be a alternative. But to my knowledge, no A&H product offers Auto Gain Tracking/compensation. Please correct me if in error or wrong in my understanding….:)

You guys have great Ideas as well. As I posted this I had just come off of a show using My QU-Pac and I-Pads. There were a couple of times I would liked to have had faders. But at the same time with the additional Input count of the QU pack and a stage Box, I was able to do some creative routing to help on a monitor situation. The mix outputs of a Qu-16 are Quite enough for most festivals and events we do. But the input count of 16 is just not quite enough. The compact size of the 16 versus my QU-32 is excellent in some small venues.

They have the users manual posted on the item page. It shows the rack mount ears and how they are mounted. Pretty simple looks like and allows that angle to be maintained. I really like that it is fully functioning even without the I-pad. Would like to see a large touchscreen that could hardwire in the network, or even a hardwire dock for the Ipad, for those areas that is tough to maintain wifi in.

Allen and Heath Pioneered the Mix rack control surface set-up. Or at least with the I-Live system they were way ahead of most other manufactures on network audio and control. I would love to see them carry that over into the QU- series. I am afraid that price points and wars over numbers are going to get in the way of use on this one.

Kind of confused. I read the forum much as a way to see how others handle particular problems or just confusing tweaks they want to learn about. I may have misread the first post, but my question would be What announcement? I would like to think I, as a user, dealer, and installer keep up with the new stuff and usually exciting news from Allen and Heath. But why a long thread about some announcement that may or may not impact what I do. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see the next big “it” product in the world of mixing consoles come from the minds at Allen and Heath. After all they have been doing “it” for many years. Just seems like there are many that love what they do, and love the products they choose to use when they purchase it. After thought, wants and desires are a human trait. We always want more. Sometimes we just have to be patient….

Used the Qu-16 with network tied to a couple of other devices. No Internet connection. Worked fine. We set it up out on site at a festival this past weekend. Took a little of thinking to get all the settings correct. And yes I do recall that we had to reboot the WAP a couple of times. Our I-Phones were finding the network but the I-Pad was slow to find it. Used a cheap inexpensive wap. The only issue we had was the distance. Figured more of the WAP point problem then app.

Was already liking the Qu-16 for our smaller Jobs. The new software added some features that really makes it more appealing. [:D]

A control surface that is network control only. ACE or Dante connection with maybe 4 audio inputs on the controller. Faders and a nice easy to understand strip control, lots of soft keys that are programmable, keyboard and mouse control with regular or touch screen capability. The user then could choose to purchase any screen he wanted. output for 2 screens would be nice. No screen built in, this would make for a very compact control surface that could be used with any of the current IDR mixracks.
Had the chance to touch and use one of the AVID sl3(I think that’s what they are calling it)VERY confusing for anyone that would not be setting at it all of the time. Good concept, poor execution. Allen and Heath already way ahead of the game of “network control”.

Both great Ideas and ways that it could work. Tom, although I knew this could be done, it just had not crossed my mind as to do it that away. After checking with the customer, they are possible within the input count on normal services to use this. I know it has been mentioned in other threads before, this would be one of those exceptional times when 2 surfaces connected to one mix rack and supported[:)] would be handy and a usable option. Even if they had to share the pfl buss.

Thanks for all of the input…..

    Thanks guys for the input.
Gil, This was my first solution for the customer. Unfortunate that they don’t have or don’t want to spend that much in their budget. They are not doing video, only streaming live to the web. A secondary sound guy is mixing only the audio live and streaming. The tough part is just being able to SOLO out a single channel strip without effecting the stereo mix output. Me not being a user of Reaper or many of the recording software programs out there, I was hoping for some insight as to maybe one of those packages that had this built in as a feature.

I would love to see a second Mix rack or a GLD as a system for them there. would be a nice setup.
