You will need the S-Link card to make it work.

Then just send the channels needed via Tie lines.

What do you send to that FX ?

See if those channels are set to Pre or Post in the send, as Pre will not be affected by you turning down the faders.

    The SQ has 1.4

I have no idear what it writes in the IO tab when the audio fails, and the ones running the desk in the church are all pretty green.

I will see if my contact can ask around but I doubt anyone of them has noticed.

On Windows you can use the SQ MixPad program, both online with the console and offline creating shows/patches.
If you have a USB key from the desk, you can insert that in your computer and set that as your working directory in the program, that way saving a show on the USB.

I tend to have an extra USB key besides my normal SSD disk for the console, simply to make shows offline, and/or save a show from a clients console to “de bug” at home later.

I suspect Keith thinks about situations where someone needs say:
L-R out on the Console, and on a stagerack, and on a second rack/expander, with all outs trimmed to different levels due to the equipment connected.

First service after we changed the cables etc.

For now it looks like everything works as it should, but will be getting reports over the next few weeks to see if the problem has been solved.

For now we have made sure all cables are connected correct.
The mains for console as well as the AR2412 and AR0804 have all been connected with grounded outlets now.

I wait for feedback if the problems are gone or not.

    One thing though:
If the AR0804 expander makes a short “hiccup” and drops the connection for a fraction of a second,
will that induce a panic in the connection between the SQ and the AR2412 resulting in loss of sound between these two?

I have just been talking to him a bit more, asking a bit more into the rest of the setup.

As it turns out right now, only the power to the console has a groundwire, neither of the two AR’s are grounded except via the shielded Cat cable.

I begin to suspect the error could be due to this, combined with too cheap cables and perhaps a need for firmware re-install as Andre mentioned.

Anyway I will be going there on friday and see what I can do.

I have been using a few different kinds of routers and Access Points

Old linksys with different firmware (DD-WRT) with few issues (old router with only 2.4G)

Apple Airport Extreme, never had any problems except when in bigger venues

Ubiquiti setup with Cloudkey, Unify switch and multiple Unify Access Points (AP-AC-Pro) with full coverage even in backstage rooms for my MP (MicroPort) helper to access his monitoring.

Not often I use a router these days, but tried the Netgear Mike mentions, and it worked fine as well.

    One thing though:
If you have 2.4G and 5G Ssids with the same name, I have seen clients jumping between the two bands and loosing the connection from time to time,
sometimes around 1 sec, at other times until asked to re-connect to the wifi.

I have told them to try without the 0804, but as they had already started the sermon, he was a bit reluctant to go up and tell the pastor to move away from the sermon podium.
(the 0804 is placed below the podium)

He just called and told the system had stayed up the whole sermon though.

Sadly they do not have any cat cables lying around in spare.

I will have a talk with him about driving by to re-install the firmware on the console, just to see if that does the trick.
And at the same time drop off one of my own Cat cables to test out as well.

Thanks for the input, it helps getting my own troubleshooting thoughts into other gears. 🙂

I have had 100% success with the Samsung EVO disks in an external USB 2 enclosure.

95% success with the same disk, or other disks, in USB 3 enclosures.

Now though I primarily use my Dante card for recording. (and inter console connections between SQ and other brand consoles)

You can use the AR0804 as your “insert” box (or any unused ins + outs on the back of the console for that matter)

The first hurdle you need to pass, is the old analog way of thinking: Input socket 1 = processing channel 1.
In the digital realm like on the SQ that is not the case.

The I/O tab is basically a patchfield between all mic/line pre amps, the processing channels and the output patch.

I suspect the reason the faders jump to 0dB when setup as groups instead of AUX,
was simply easier to do in the sourcecode, and thus less risk of intruducing a bug somewhere in the system at other configs.

    @uselessoldman

We have digressed from your topic, as I wrote earlier, and sorry for that.

The QU, as nice as it is, is not build to be a DAW controller as such.
You can do rudementary (not sure if spelled correct) work like fader control, but not complete DAW control.

When you say mix, do you mean like using the DAW as a multitrack recording and then do all mixing on the console, using the consoles effects etc. ?

We are talking anything from a single Stand Up comedian, a corporate presentation to folk, rock, pop band, theater and musicals and a few smaller festivals.
And they did not abuse this console harder than any other console (some took this over a larger M console, and when they swapped the X out for the similar M they had zero problems)

    @mfk0815
I have products from that brand 20-25 years old that still work flawlessly, and of the 4 preamps I have had 2 still work fine.
