Yeah I noticed this as well. I think these prices must have changed recently as when I bought my AB168 it was cheaper.

You’ll need some form of amplification as the signal is only line level from the mix outs. I use a Behringer Powerplay P1 for my drummer and he loves it. Cheap and well built. I also connect just a mono mix for this, you can connect a stereo mix as well if the application absolutely has to have stereo.

All doable and very easy! In turn…

1. Yes. Press the FX1 button, raise the master level of the reverb and then raise the faders on the inputs you need the reverb on.
2. Yes. Keep all the other input faders at the bottom (the infinity symbol)
3. Yes. Press the mix you want. Then go to the top layer of the faders by pressing the top layer button on the left hand side (above the faders). Bring up the FX1 return.
4. Follow above again. Works exactly the same way but replace FX1 with FX2 etc.

Note on the QU16 there are only 2 dedicated sends for FX, but you can have all 4 FX units running – you simply need to go to FX3 (for example), press the Back Panel button and assign that FX module to a mix (usually 7-8 or 9-10 as they are stereo). Then the mix 7-8 and/or the 9-10 buttons and master fader act just as they do for FX1 and FX2.

Incidentally, I like to use a gated reverb on my snares (about 25% wet is enough) and dedicate it to an input (usually 2 on my QU16 or QUPac as Kick is on 1). This makes sense as it’s only really the snare I’d ever use this on so avoids me accidentally doing something to any other channel (easily done!)>

I’m not 100% certain, but I vaguely remember reading that you cannot link two AB168 Dsnakes. I think you can have one AR84 linked to your initial AB168 though. Perhaps A&H will clarify this?

This happened to me once on a QU-16, suspiciously the very next gig after I did an OS update on the iPad. It only ever happened that one time, and it was during sound check so I rebooted the desk and all was well. At another venue, I couldn’t connect to my QU-PAC at all which was a little concerning, but I put this down to heavy WiFi traffic at the venue and the fact my Router was a TP-Link travel plug-in type that only did 2.4GHz. I subsequently upgraded to a much more powerful and good quality router with 2.4 and 5GHz and have suffered no further issues. My money is on the iPad for this, especially as when you turned it off everything returned to normal.

On the left hand side of the desk there are two grey buttons directly beneath the HPF control – one is PreFade, the one under that Assign. Make sure you are in the main LR mix (blue button on right hand side, then press the green Select button). Now press the grey Assign button and all the green Select buttons above each channel should have a little red LED light up, indicating they are assigned to the main LR. Whilst keeping Assign pressed, press the green button above ch16. It is now unassigned from LR and will not come out of the main speakers.

Your source ch19 needs to be unassigned from LR.This wouldn’t affect the source being sent to mix 5&6.

Re empty FX racks, no. I think this may have been intended as a placeholder just to show the FX rack is available for use. All the FX are internal and as far as I know can only be updated if and when (now unlikely) A&H issued new FX via a firmware update.

Mark, I’m guessing by monitors Henning means main LR (could be wrong). Henning, plug your phones in the socket near top right and press PAFL on the channel you want to listen to. That should isolate that channel in your phones without affecting anything else.

Domster12, I have two LD MEI 1000 and 3 MEI 100s as extras and for the money they cannot be beaten. They have proven very reliable, but as others have said the supplied buds are basically fit for the bin but there are plenty of affordable quality options out there. As the PA for several bands, I’m asking the users to provide their own anyway. I also have 3 x Behringer P1s and they are again great value. They are stereo, so if you only need mono I think they also do a smaller, slightly cheaper single channel version.

Also, I don’t know where you are based, but be careful of the frequencies you opt for as they are not universally legal on all frequencies.
