That’s a shame Lee – that footswitch may have had a market!
AB168s on eBay are quite rare, and even then the discount over new was questionable as to whether it was worth the risk. Buy high end new, sell high end high, I guess.
2019/07/29 at 2:20 pm #85567Lee, sadly it doesn’t 🙁 Oh well, it’s not a biggie as I am always with the iPad at shows so mute the FX between songs from that.
2019/07/29 at 2:17 pm #85566I use the same method. I bought multiple colours of magnetic strips on a roll and make my own small labels for the custom layer, but use one single strip for the main channel assignments and the ins/outs on the back or on my AB 168. I have strips for each band I work with. Nice and easy.
2019/07/29 at 2:12 pm #85565I had this problem with a QU 16 once, but only with wedges – one of the lead vocalists was cominf through the monitor so loud it was clearly audible and sounded a bit naff. Yet my faders for that monitor had zero effect. Next show, it was fine. Go figure.
2019/07/29 at 2:05 pm #85562Just out of interest, how did you set up the footswitch? Wouldn’t mind trying this on my QU PAC.
2019/07/29 at 6:54 am #85549Just to point out there are no groups or matrices on the QU 16.
2019/07/06 at 7:34 am #85025It’s a great mixer so don’t give up just yet. Sounds like you may have the FX caught in a loop where the fx is being sent and returned to itself. On your qu pad app, press fx1 (or whichever you need) on the right hand edge. TheN press fx on the left hand side to show the four returns and sends for all fx. Make sure that for fx 1, the fx1 return is off. Repeat for all others.
To add verb, with the fx1 button still lit on the right press inputs on the left to see all your channels inc the ones with your vocalists. Make sure the fader for the channel your need the verb on is up, and that the fx1 send is also raised. I tend to have my vox at 0 and adjust the send level to taste.
Hope this helps!
2019/07/04 at 9:08 pm #85007Dave, yes 12″. The LR would be RCf HD32A and the fills HD12A – although only room for one in my car. Only one wedge on stage as 2 out of the other 3 band members use IEMs.
2019/07/04 at 8:27 pm #85002Thanks guys. I’m guessing the stage is about8 or 9 metres.
2019/06/11 at 8:52 pm #84539Yep. Just select the mix you want from the right hand side in QU Pad and treat it as if it were any other channel. You have the choice of parametric or graphic EQ on every mix, although if you are using wedges be very cautious with compression.
2019/04/09 at 1:50 pm #83245Just as a small side note to what Mark says, if you are using groups, make sure you apply the FX to the group and not the individual channels feeding into that group. This is because for FoH and main LR mix, it’s common to add compression and if you do this at the group level along with your FX, it means your FX are not also being compressed. Compressed FX don’t sound great sometimes.
2019/03/13 at 3:52 pm #82628LOL. No change there then 🙂
2019/03/13 at 1:13 pm #82618I could be wrong, but I don’t think you can. 17 and 18 on Qu Drive recordings are reserved for the LR mix.
2019/02/15 at 12:27 pm #81982Nope. No two QU machines can be directly linked to each other. You will need analogue splitters if you wanted, for example, to run one desk as FoH and one for monitors/in-ears. I believe the SQ can however connect to a QU.
2019/01/21 at 4:56 pm #81529You must remember to click okay or it’s back to square one – I have done this so many times. You’d have thought I would remember by now!
