That seems quite a counterproductive feature. The whole point of adding gain to an input, is because you want more of the input source in the mix. Why would you then want anything to decrease in volume, when the whole point of gaining an input, is to adjust for insufficient signal level. Sorry, please don’t use your time on features like this – there are much more pressing issues to be addressed.

After 2 full days of rehearsal and programming, I have to say the 1.5 scene system update is a do-over. The whole recall filter, update and safes system is super laggy, and frustratingly unresponsive. Because the CPU/system is falling behind, it makes for way to many programming errors, because it just does not keep up with the speed of the rest of the console. Very, very frustrating. And I hope we get a fix ASAP of this whole lack of recall filter copy/paste thing, as it just adds to the frustration with the new slow scene pages.

No, it is in general, when browsing the recall filter for parameters, it is quite laggy, it does not change after first use.

I know 🙂 I have returns through a group right now, where I sidechain it.

By the way @ben, for me the newest firmware is quite a bit laggy when messing with recall filter and update. It was a lot more fluid and responsive before. Hopefully this can be addressed at some point.

huh? Im talking about IP controllers, not the surface.

The Limiter was absolutely shit. If anything it is a good thing it does not exist anymore.

Dyn-8 is a better de-esser than iLive or the one in the FX Rack, so no need for anything else.

Nice @ben, it is a pretty commonly used feature, so I think it should be implemented as soon as possible 🙂 Just as I think Solo In Place is a basic feature, that all digital consoles should have without question.

Also I am very much missing the compression on the FX Returns from the iLive 🙁 A little sad I am not able to duck my delays and reverbs, to make room for the lead or make it seem more “dry” and articulated, while still having a nice tail.

that is not how the protocol works, and you will never get that feature. Mix on faders can be done via scene programming though. The IP8 controllers are fixed controllers, that operate with assigned parameters. Sorry, but I think it is simply not a good idea for A&H to invest R&D into a feature, that is basically what you use a surface for. If you want a surface, invest the money.

You can be 100% sure they will not go that route. If you want a real surface, buy a C1500.

    @ben:

I start out a show/band with my recall filter set to allow all for my rehearsal and venue scenes – and block all for my specific song scenes/cues, except fx units, I know I will be automating that 🙂

Then after rehearsals I will Allow the different parameters in the song cues, that I need for the particular show. Typically levels, send levels, fx return levels, and mutes for different channels. I really dont know from the beginning which features I would want in my recall filter.

Yes, physical knobs and buttons, are creative reinforcement. A screen is a barrier. It’s the tactile feel that makes the difference, and much better for adjusting multiple parameters at once.

Sorry, but as far as I can tell, what I am asking is to get things away from the touchscreen, and assignable on the controllers. Why would you suggest another touch screen then? It simply doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, it sure does. Nice new features, but to be honest I am quite disappointed you guys have not included a copy-paste or update all/selected of the Recall Filter. What good is an update of all scenes, if I have to go in and manually allow the adjusted parameter in the Recall Filter? 🙁 🙁 🙁 This is a huge issue – frankly, all changes that are “sent” to a scene via the update feature should AUTOMATICALLY also be set to “Allow” in the respective scene recall filter – at the very least this should be available as an option. Sorry, this is simply swing and a miss.

I had probably expected a much bigger overhaul of the scene system. There is a long, long way to go before just barking Digico’s feet. At least you could have given us a standard Copy/Paste of the Recall Filter.

So awesome! Could you give an explanation of the “Auto Tracking” feature? And the “absolute” vs “relative” mode?

Sorry, but that is in no shape or form creatively engaging. I want things where I DON’T look at a screen. Ipad and tablets are the Black Plague of digital audio. Terrible.

No, you can configure them as Surface IP controllers as well. Doesn’t matter if there is a surface or not.

@nicola, the problem is the lack of PAFL + SEL feature, since the “SEL follows PAFL” setting on the surface, does not apply to the IP controller for some reason. Pain in the ass 🙂
