    Hello @zony,

You can add your files into any DAW and re-render them all to be 48 kHz, 24 bit.
If you don’t have access to a DAW, there are a few free to download online such as Audacity, Reaper, Tracks (And perhaps some others).

As it has been mentioned above, make sure that they are all the same size, correctly named and placed on the right folder.

    Hello @Guiguix and @PS,
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t hear back from the Support team at A&H.
We reply and follow up on all enquiries, if yours was not replied then it is likely that it did not get to us, unfortunately. Please make sure that messages are sent to: Support@allen-heath.com

If we did get back to you but re-direct you to one of our distributors for technical service, then our distributors shall take over the enquiry in which case follow up will be directly through them.

Please note that we don’t officially support service done through unauthorized centres, nor do we recommend component level repairs, as neither of these procedures would guarantee your product being fixed and returned to you in operational conditions to our company standards.

If you’re having hardware issues with your Network connection, it might be worth looking at the CPU board once more. Since it suffered some damaged and as it was not replaced entirely, it is not guaranteed that other areas or components were not damaged as well.

    Thank you,
    Rafael

    Hello Steve,

For quick control of scenes I suggest using Soft keys, it is very easy to program.
The amount of scenes will relay on the mixer itself, no external application would be able to increase these.
However, just for your reference, SQ mixers offer up to 300 scenes.

Whether is with QU or SQ, another very practical way of controlling scenes is through an external software using MIDI such as QLab.
If you most stick with QU and still need more than 100 scenes, you might want to look into creating all your Mute/Unmute cues directly from QLab and trigger them as QLab group cues, rather than switching scenes in the console.
You can create a group containing multiple cues that would Mute or Unmute different channels in the mixer and trigger these simultaneously by triggering the group.

    Hello @ftmusic,

Have you perform a Hard Reset on the unit to bring it back to factory state?
This will help to guarantee that it is not being caused to any operational error, such as what Mike C suggests.

Is your unit in the latest Firmware? If not, please update it. (Latest: V1.97)

As a side note, as Mike C mentioned, yes it is possible to send an FX Return into a send. This is mostly used to send FX back to a monitor mix, for example.
If not careful, you might end up sending the FX Return into its same send, creating the loop the Mike mentions.
By default, the FX Return will not be assigned into its same Send channel, you would have to assign this manually using the ‘Assign’ key.

If after the Firmware update and Hard Reset you still have the same problems, please contact us once more to Support@allen-heath.com and we’ll be happy to follow up on this.
    Thank you,
    Rafael

    Hello @airickess

‘Zipper noise’ is exhibited by all digitally controlled preamps and we use zero crossing detection to minimise this in our design.
Please note that testing unterminated preamps or preamps with no signal present affects the performance of the zero crossing detection which can result in higher levels of zipper noise.
Removing the preamp from the circuit entirely, by setting gain to 0dB, can also result in excess noise when preamp stages are re-connected (when gain is next applied).
Hence the preamp gain starting by default at +28dBs

Without the 0dB characteristic (i.e. not starting from 0dB) and when loaded/connected, you shouldn’t see anything over -30dB on the preamp meter.

If you do or if you wish to follow this up further, please contact support at Support@allen-heath.com and we’ll be happy to have a look into it.
    Thank you,
    Rafael

    Hello @anthony1974,

Yes, you can connect an SQ and a QU together through the SLink of the SQ and the dSnake port of the QU.
Please note that this is a ‘Digital Split’ setup, this does not work to control the secondary mixer from the primary mixer, the purpose of this setup is simply to share unprocessed signals from one mixer to the other.

Preamp control (Gain, +48v and Pad) remains only for the mixer that has the sources and racks connected to it.
    For your reference: https://support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4403618840849-General-How-to-connect-Qu-SQ

@alec, thanks for clarifying the SLink concept. Yes, indeed, SLink is not a protocol; SLink is an intelligent port that detects the sample rate and uses this to adapt to the protocol being used. This gives SLink the possibility of being used with dSnake protocol, DX or GX Protocols.

    Cheers,
    Rafa

    Hello @anthony1974,

You may add multiple expander racks to increase the amount of possible input or output sockets, and integrate remote connectivity, but the mixer is capable of processing audio for 48 channels
The SLink Connections guide shared above will help you get your head around the connection possibilities: https://www.allen-heath.com/media/SLinkConnections_V1_5_0.pdf

SQ can send up to 32 channels through USB into your computer system.

    Cheers,
    Rafael

    Hello @anthony1974,

SQ offers 48 processing channels + 8 FX Engines from which 4 of them have a designated FX send.
Should you require to use the other 4 FX Engines as Send/Return FX’s, you would need to send these other 4 FX’s using your Aux Mixes.
All 8 FX Engines have FX Return, you can drag and drop these into any desired fader/layer through the Setup – Surface – Strip Assign screen.

If you need more Input sockets than what the console physically offers, you can add Expander Racks into your setup by connecting these to the SLink port of the console.
There is a wide variety of Expanders that you can add, both 48kHz and 96kHz, from our protocols dSnake, DX and GX.
    For your reference: https://www.allen-heath.com/everything-io/
Here’s a very helpful guide on SLink connections: https://www.allen-heath.com/media/SLinkConnections_V1_5_0.pdf

    @mike C,
FX3 and FX4 would need to use an Aux Mix to send, but it does have designated FX Returns.
Selecting the Upper layer (Output buses) will have FX3 return and FX4 return in “Channels 6 and 7”

    Cheers,
    Rafa

    Hello @arnolex,

As Mike suggests, try another Cat5e (Or higher) cable, make sure this is STP cable.
Make sure you are on the latest Firmware version for QU V1.97, if not, please update.

If you have access to another QU console or another AR/AB rack, troubleshoot connecting devices to identify where the fault resides.
    Example:
Connect another rack to the console, if this works, then we can confirm that the console and its dSnake port are working fine, if this second rack fails then the problem might be in the QU unit.
Connect your AR2412 to another QU or SQ console, if this works, then we can confirm that the rack is not the problem, if it fails then it is likely that the rack has a hardware issue.

If you need further assistance, feel free to contact A&H Support team at: Support@allen-heath.com

    Hello @bobc,

This is more a general Audio concept, rather than an enquiry particularly with the console, but I’m happy to clarify the best I can.

The gain stage and the ‘Slider’ adjustments are two completely different things, and although they relate to each other for the same goal (A good gain structure and signal level), adjusting one and adjusting the other one, does not mean that you are adjusting the same thing.

The gain adjustment happens at a preamp stage while fader adjustment relates more to an ‘Output’ stage.
Another way to put it is, Gain adjustment sets how much signal of that source will be coming into the console, while fader adjustment sets how much of the processed signal will be going to the selected Output bus.
Hence the best practice for Gain stage is adjusting this with your fader at unity level.

Here’s some documentation that might help you get your head around this concept:

    Hello @Jere,

I’m glad to know that the issue was solved.
Did anything in your setup, configuration, Scene/Show change?
    iOS updates on your iPad?

If the issue comes back (Let’s hope not), please send us a message to Support@allen-heath.com and we’ll be happy to troubleshoot and investigate further.

    Thank you,
    Rafa

    Hello @bob,

As Giga has already spot on mentioned, ‘On’ resembles the ‘Assign key’ function on the surface versions of Qu range.
This allow you to dictate if certain channel is part of the selected Output Bus or not, whilst the Mute key simply temporarily silence this channel.

In some instances, you will like to have certain channels unassigned and in others Muted.
    For example:
You may have a click channel (Metronome) for your musicians monitoring but you don’t want it on the Main L&R. If you muted, it will also be muted on its send to Mixes, if instead you disable it from the Main L&R, it would not be there but still be On and being sent to your other mixes.

    Cheers,
    Rafael

    Hello @Kalle,

Since this has been solved with a Hard Reset, it is likely to be something operational (A setting or configuration).
Please send a message to Support@ allen-heath.com with all the details on both issues (The PAFL and the ALT OUT), kindly add a screenshot of your PAFL settings on the moment of the issue experienced, and we will be happy to look into this with you.

    Thank you,
    Rafael

    Hello Jere,

Do you have any other app open in the back of your iPad? If so, please close all other apps and leave open only the Qu-Pad app.
Are there any other devices connected to your router’s network? Make sure that there isn’t any third party devices connected on the network.
Do you have your mixer connected to your computer as well? Any chance of having an app or DAW sending a MIDI command to that fader to be on that position?

    Cheers,
    Rafa
