    Hi Joe,

You can use an M-MMO audio option card in your MixRack Port B, and connect 2x ADAT outputs to the IEX16L-A interface for MyMix.
M-MMO can also fit in iLive modular surfaces if they are equipped with the RAB-2 standard.

    Hi All,

Just to clarify, as you can read in the AVnu White Paper, AVB is a set of standards describing ‘interworking between various network link technologies’. It’s a new technology rather than an audio protocol in itself, pretty much like Ethernet is the technology behind TCP/IP, UDP etc.

‘These new standards provide a set of features to enable higher layer protocols and applications to realize professional quality services’.

The same document lists two draft standards for an AVB-based transport protocol: IEEE 1733 (Layer 3) and IEEE 1722 (Layer 2, designed to replace FireWire among others). Nonetheless, other higher layer protocols such as Dante can use AVB as well.

    Hi all

Bridging the iLive network over the Dante card is not supported with current firmware V3.4.x as it would drop the Primary link to 100Mbit/s. It will be implemented in a major firmware release for the Audinate Brooklyn II module used in the M-DANTE card.

At the moment, the only way to have Editor and Dante running on the same computer, is to connect both the iLive network and the Dante card to an external, Gigabit Ethernet switch. Please see above regarding IP addresses and QoS.

    Cheers

It looks like the list has been dropped from the website. I’ll ask Audinate if it’s still available.

Adam, the Belkin PlayMax N600HD is a WiFi router that we originally recommended for MixPad before realizing its firmware wasn’t ready for Apple iOS 4. It’s still among the top places in our compatibility chart for WiFi Editor and iPad control. We’ve never mentioned this router was suitable for Dante networking, and I wouldn’t recommend mixing Wi-Fi and Dante networks unless strictly necessary.

    Hi Adam,

If you want Dante and Editor or third-party Ethernet data to be on the same network, your Ethernet switch should support Diffserv (DSCP) Quality of Service (QoS) with strict priority and 4 queues, as these features are used to prioritize clock sync and audio traffic over other network data. Although some users found it was working with standard Gigabit switches, a list of recommended devices is available on the Audinate website.

If the router DHCP service is turned on and DHCP is enabled in iLive, all devices on the network automatically get assigned a compatible IP address so both iLive and Dante devices can be viewed and controlled from the same computer. Since iLive devices do not support Zero Config auto addressing, on a network without DHCP you would need to
manually assign each device (MixRack, Surface and TouchScreen) to a compatible address in the 169.254.xxx.xxx range.

    Hope this helps

I’m afraid RAB1 doesn’t provide any Word Clock connectivity, but DARS is fully compliant with AES3 standards and can be used to deliver or to receive a sync reference to/from AES3 (AES/EBU) devices.

DARS is documented in AES11-2003. It is a standard AES3 bit stream derived from a master reference. More info here:
    https://broadcastengineering.com/mag/broadcasting_inside_aea_digital/

If you need Word Clock, you can update to RAB2 and use your existing EtherSound AVD module with the M-ES-V1-BASE mounting kit to adapt it to fit RAB2 slots – this saves you the money of a new M-ES-V2 EtherSound card. Have a look at the ‘Understanding RAB2’ document in the iLive download section.

    Hi all,

We uploaded an understanding guide for the M-Waves card in its product page:

    https://www.allen-heath.com/UK/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=iLiveSeries&ProductId=MWAVES&SubCatId=AudioNetworkingOptions

    This should address some questions.

As explained in the pdf, third-party computers can be used for processing, provided that the custom Linux SG Server software is installed. This can be purchased separately. Latency and overall performance depends on the system specs. A list of tested and recommended workstations is available on http://www.waveslive.com.

Dante transport latency can be set at very low values, but the DVS driver minimum latency is 4ms, which means a round-trip latency of 8 to 10ms when using plugins. This can be acceptable in some FOH applications, but it’s no use for monitor purposes or inserting dynamic processors. With SoundGrid Server One the roundtrip latency can be set at 40 samples (less than 1 ms).

Waves uses IPv6 and RAW Ethernet data, Dante uses higher layer, standard Internet Protocols.

Some of the key features of SoundGrid compared to native Waves processing are:

    – Reliability due to the dedicated Linux server (the control computer can be unplugged at any time without affecting the audio), redundant connections and optional redundant server.
    – Lower roundtrip latency thanks to a dedicated Linux environment and optimized network adapter driver.

The card can be used to record and playback up to 64 channels thanks to the SG Driver (ASIO and Core Audio). Routing options are the same as with all other Port B audio networking cards. Several signals can be routed to the card for processing and recording, including any bus or Mix Channel (pre or post fade), Input Direct Out,
Wedge and IEM monitors, MixRack Inputs, and Input or Mix Insert Sends.

See above. Roundtrip latency is 40 samples with SG Server One. Latency for each plug-in is well specified in a chart on their website.

For those of you who are around London, the Waves card is up and running on our stand at the Plasa show.

    Hi Dave,

I didn’t go further than a few faders and mute buttons, just to ensure it was a feasible solution. I used the GS-R24 template projects for Bome’s – available on our website – and manually changed the incoming and outcoming MIDI strings. You have to type in the strings as specified in the iLive MIDI Protocol.

    Hi All,

For all computer geeks out there – a workaround on this is using iLive MIDI.

iLive MIDI protocol uses a lot of NRPN messages which can’t be automatically assigned to parameters in a DAW. However using a converter such as Bome’s MIDI Translator, it’s possible to manually program an iLive-to-standard-MIDI map (and viceversa) or even an iLive-to-HUI map.

https://www.bome.com/products/miditranslator – this is the same software we currently recommend for our GS-R24 recording desk.

We tried this with a standard MIDI interface and succeded in hooking up a T-112 to Sonar, Reaper, Pro Tools and others.

Apart from controlling your favourite DAW software, this allows recording automated moves and using a DAW session to automate fader levels, mutes and scene recalls on an iLive.

    I hope this helps,

    Nicola

    Hola Dream7,

Creo que hemos encontrado en Panamá el año pasado. EtherSound no es compatible con una topología en estrella. Tendría que cambiar todas las tarjetas de red en los MixRacks para utilizar una red estrella como Dante.

    Hi all,

Reaper x64 doesn’t work with Dante Virtual Soundcard x64. We recommend installing Reaper x32 instead. This can be installed on the same computer – no need to uninstall x64 version, and using the same licence. Here is a comment from Audinate posted on Reaper forum:

“Guy from Audinate here. The problem is that the 64-bit version of Reaper won’t connect to our 64-bit ASIO driver for Dante Virtual Soundcard. The 32-bit version of Reaper has no such problem, which indicates that it is requesting access to the driver in a different way. We are looking at this issue, and thus far it only appears to affect Reaper 64-bit on Windows.

ASIO is a 3rd-party workaround for pro audio, created to overcome deficiencies in the native Windows audio system. As a result, there are more inconsistencies in implementation than in native solutions.

We are working on this, and in the meantime can recommend that you use Reaper 32-bit as a solution. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.”

A list of M-Dante best practices and FAQs is available in the ‘M-Dante Understanding Guide’ here:
