Just to confirm: I recorded all “Live” 12 tracks via the QU drive on to my Samsung HDD and then plugged the HDD in to my MSI GE60 laptop and loaded the tracks in to Reaper 64 bit edition. Playback was fine, but there are endless clicks on playback. Something else I forgot to mention was that I recorded both sets, 45mins each. The first set recorded, but the second has nothing on it. Shows all 12 tracks, but no information was recorded. I armed the recorder and saw it start.

    That did the trick, thanks.

Another thing I noticed, when you PAFL button on the ST3 channel the volume increases ever so slightly?

Do you know why this happens?

I have managed to gain playback from a USB pen drive, but cannot seem to find out where the source is going to to be able to listen? I plugged some headphones in, but don’t hear anything. Even plugged them in to the Alt L&R Output.

I am sure it is something simple……. 🙂

That will explain that then, will convert them all to WAV, would help to read the manual properly rather than just reading selected parts. 🙂

I had this feature on my last desk, Mackie Onyx 1640i. You could stream all 16 channels via Firewire to a Mac or PC into a DAW and stream back into the desk and use the DAW’s plugins on FOH. Never used this feature myself as I couldn’t find a laptop that had dual firewire ports.

At the moment I too mute the FX via my iPad that is clamped to my mic stand, but it is far from ideal and does not better the traditional footswitch. Some of our songs start acapello without FX, so this makes unmuting the FX and then jumping straight back to my bass virtually impossible, so for the moment the vocal FX have to be in full use in all acapello parts. Just one reason I am having a bespoke footswitch made.

    Hi,

At the moment I use my ipad to mute the FX, but our technical man will soon be building me a bespoke pedal that will send a midi string (code) via the ethernet port on the rear to mute the FX, similar to the desks of old. I have already had one or two members of this group contacting me about the price etc. Once this pedal has been made which should be soon I will let all those interested know.

I am currently using a Virgin Super Hub router which are made by Netgear, it can be set to either 2.4 or 5ghz bandwith, I have it set to the latter as it is less congested. So far so good and it only cost me £20.00 brand-new. You can buy the Super Hub 2 now which switches automatically between the two bandwiths and has a better range, I think.

    Cheers

I have a couple of USB LED goose neck lights that are designed for laptops etc, they cost a £1 each from poundland and work a treat!!!

I also know of some other engineers who use the same product.

All A&H products are Made in the UK when first designed etc and once everything seems ok they ship out to China, keeps costs down. Or so I was told. So it sounds as if the QU-16 has is being made overseas.

I was talking to one of the reps from Audio Technica in January prior to buying my QU-16, he said eventually A&H will move production over to the Far East, but, said quality control would not suffer. Designed and manufactured in England was a big plus for me in buying the desk, especially if you decide to sell on later down the line.

    Hi,

I don’t think that is possible at the moment, or at least I haven’t noticed that option whilst using the QU-Pad, will have a look later.
