Hey Dave and Thomas,
You guys are both in Switzerland right? Where are you exactly? I do a lot of shows around lake Geneva and In Zurich.
A few weeks ago i was doing a show in Zurich and had a fault with my iLive, luckily i had a backup console available.
Can you guys forward on your contact details to me?Cheers
Graham
Grahamsound@me.com2011/04/05 at 9:53 pm #27881Actually the iLive is the only desk out there at the moment which is fully waterproof. I have used mine underwater several times and it had been fine.
Honestly, try it out, next gig throw a pint of water into the mixrack you will see what i mean!
2011/03/12 at 1:14 pm #27706Depends on the size of shows you are doing, whether backline volume will affect your foh mix.
If you are mixing in a small theatre room or a hall then backline volume can and will affect the sound out front.
I mainly do arena/stadium shows so it doesn’t affect me at all. I find that Virtual Soundchecking in conjunction with Solo-in-Place for shows where soundcheck time is tight, it is the single most useful offering since the invention of total recall.A lot of people think that it is a gimmick, something pointless that bears no actual correlation to a real band playing on a stage. In some scenarios this may be true if you have a small room and a really loud backline/monitor sound. The ability to infinitely loop every single input to get the most out of your dynamic processing, your eq and ultimately the most important thing, ‘the speaker system’ is in my eyes invaluable.
Lets not also forget that it provides an excellent training tool for engineers to actually have a go at mixing a show. They can do it on headphones, in the warehouse with a set of big speakers or even on a showday when everyone else is in catering post soundcheck.
Virtual Soundchecking and the ability to save your various mixes as scenes on a console with total recall is providing us all with more opportunities to be creative, adventurous and more bold in our approach to mixing live sound, Just as studio guys have been doing for years!
Dont knock it until you’ve tried it, is the advice i tell the naysayers!

2011/03/06 at 1:36 am #27645you aint lived until you’ve ‘bricked’ a bit of gear while firmware updating, and you get double bonus points if you do it just before the doors open:)
2011/02/18 at 8:44 am #27445haha oh yes, so it has…. and i even replied to that thread. D’oh!!

(make sure you have a scene programmed with your usual layout!)Not exactly as easy as proper POP groups / ‘Spill’ though is it?
Not to mention a pain in the arse to change mid show
2010/12/12 at 12:48 pm #26904Yes you can use MIDI automation for the console however it really only works for mute/pan control.
If you do fader automation the iLive glitches quite badly and does not give smooth fader movements. In some cases it wont even recognise fader movements.

2010/11/15 at 6:04 pm #26780yes you can use USB LED lights. Just ensure you get the small low power ones

Originally posted by abstractnoiseI’d want it switchable so that when I’m in soundcheck/setup mode I can keep the usual mix routing options open, but then lock it down and only affect a channel I can see when I’m in “show” mode.
Why would you want to restrict operations during a show? Please could you go into a little more detail of what you want to do.
At the moment it sounds like you want to avoid the possibility of accidentally adjusting a parameter on the wrong channel during the show. Is this correct?
This is something that is possible to accidentally do on every mixer console, even analog desks. You dial in more LF on that snare only to find you’ve got your hands on the Aux for that channel or the LF for the second snare etc.
Its something that is easier to mistakenly do on a digi board but you just have to ensure you hit the “SELECT” button for the appropriate input / channel / group / output before you make any adjustments.
We’ve all been there before!
2010/10/26 at 8:19 am #26672My T112 does this too. Although as Stealth suggests it may be because i have the “fill” activated.

Originally posted by lawbass61…I am trying to figure out how to set up a dedicated comm line using Clearcomm or Telex equipment internally…
I think you will find that this is impossible. As with all comms lines, they carry a voltage which cannot be carried down a fibre, cat5 or through a DA/AD converter.
The only think that can be passed internally is Audio or Midi.
