    Wedge and iem buses….

Lets assume you are running the console as a monitor only console, ie sidestage at a festival, you have some people on iems and you have some on wedges.
You also have a pair of wedges and some iems for your cue system.

Now route all of your iem auxes to your iem cuebuss, the same way you route your DCAs or Groups.
Now route all of your wedge auxes to the wedge cuesbuss too.

Whenever you AFL an IEM mix it will only output via your iem cuebuss and the same for when you AFL any wedge mixes it will come out of your cue wedges and not on the other buss.

You can of course route them to both busses or neither if you so wish!

i wish iLive had Macros, after spending some time on SD8 i found them very versatile for ‘dimming’ and other such things.

Theres no need for another pointless stupid app.

Everytime they dedicate resources to something like this it means that less resources are available for real things like hardware developments.

Personally all these ‘toy gimmicks’ i could do without.
Just give me a console that wont ever crash, and the support available to help me if it ever did fall over.

I would rather have control over a stage than musicians that dont know about mic technique let alone ringing out wedges whilst they perform.

What next? Are we all going to start begging the developers for the ability to watch television on out surface screen, just because some crappy consumer desk that nobody’s heard of has decided to integrate this feature into theirs???

We aint talking about a toy here people!

Put all the measurements online then, Why keep them to yourself? Or are you the latency police?

“professional digital mixing system at a distinctly analogue price!”

Analogue as in Mixwizard, or Analogue as in Venice???

Im going to speculate the following:
    24inputs + 12outputs on the mix rack,
The expander handling an extra 8inputs and 4outputs
Firmware will be the same as the other iLive components hopefully, to ensure it is cross compatible.
The surface will certainly have some i/o onboard, although i wouldn’t like to guess at any more than maybe 6in / 4out to keep costs down.

    save your current scene.

    goto mix config

    IP stereo tab

    un-stereo selected channels

wait whilst the iLive makes this change.*

    Recall previously saved scene.

*Note – the iLive will not pass audio during this time, Dont do this mid-show:)

I have been using the ipad app quite a lot recently and after spending the last couple of weeks with it have a few suggestions of my own.

    FX editor tabs,
Tap tempo is pretty much essential for me. So would like to see a tap button somewhere or a softkey tab at least.

A superstrip would be handy, maybe utilising the top half of the screen for this and the bottom half for channel faders?

I guess i could also mention that the whole size could be smaller to fit in more faders? For me, the fader dont need to be as big.

Tone gen control would be handy, but not essential for me, i normally work off the faders for walking zones within a venue.

Why is there not a scene page within the app?

    Now the most important thing…
When i first start the app up it works perfectly, but occasionally the ipad2 will go into standby if not touched for a while and then i get a “lost wifi” error message within the mixpad app.
Although it is still obviously connected, a few times i have been adjusting something only for it not to do anything. I glance at the surface and notice that although the mixpad behaves like it is connected, it is actually not controlling anything.

So i would love a little update so that there is extra code added for confirming a stable connection between the app and mixrack.
Maybe something as simple as a little green or red light somewhere visible in mixpad?

In summary, i was a little unsure about spending £70gbp on this app, but now its hard to believe i used to carry my macbook around a venue! The ipad app is so simple and effective. It doesnt quite replace the laptop, and it certainly doesnt replace the surface, however it does have its place in saving time and stress if you are on your own trying to soundcheck a band on your own.

I quite like the fact i can easily switch my working position from either onstage, to offstage or even within the top of the tiered seating in an arena!

I have used my ilive with 150metres of neutrik etherflex and not had a problem.

I have also used it with a cheap nasty 20metre network cable and had loads of problems.

It all comes down to the quality of the cable and connecters!

Glad i can be of help!

OSX Lion lasted 3hours until i went back to using SnowLeapord.

iLive editor wouldn’t work at all.
I also use Microsoft Office 2004 for mac (old i know but it works) This also wouldnt work because “PowerPC based apps” are not supported in Lion.

I had a massive problem installing OSX Lion, Here’s something it doesnt tell you before you buy it. If you use Bootcamp and have a 2nd partition for either Windows or Linux etc you HAVE TO DELETE THIS PARTITION. You cannot install Lion without removing it. (of course you can then re-run bootcamp assistant after the Lion install and re-partition but what a pain)

One thing i really really liked about Lion was it gave my HD more free space than Snow Leapord. The new interface in Mail is awesome….. sadly these slight features are not enough to make me put up with the stress of upgrading a whole host of my apps and digging out my serial numbers etc.

Word of advice if you are thinking of downloading Lion: After downloading the 3.6gb file, (but before instaling it) save it to a DVD cos after install it removes itself from your computer and the only way to get another copy is to re-download the huge 3.6gb file!

    Crackles during playback?

Could be a samplerate error? Check you are synced. The idr should be the master clock and dante should be slave.

I had this once with a soundcraft vi6, turned out to be my interface set to the wrong samplerate.
