Yeah, I was looking for the Tieline functionality, which is not subject to processing… So should be lower I would assume…?

can anyone here tell me approximately what latency I should expect if had a bunch of input connected to DM48 routed via Tielines to MADI Slot card (to a digico SD8), and the MADI returns routed via tielines directly to the outputs of the DM48? Any documentation on these sort of things anywhere?

Hi! where do I decide where the MIDI messages are sent? From the TCP midi driver?

Ok. But 2 A&H M-waves V3 cards can be used for digital split, without an extra connected control computer?

Thanks for your help, but it is quite bad news for me 😀 hihi. But this just shows the inherent design failure of the soundgrid protocol – the absolute demand for a control computer attached to the network at all times. The soundgrid network/servers should be able to maintain all settings within themselves, and the attached computer should just be a “remote control” – it is beyond my understanding why they would design it in any other way.

I will have to really cross my fingers for the dLive MADI card being ready before may 🙂

@nicola – my plan was to use the MADI card as a digital split to Digico SD8 console. But can you tell me if this could also be achieved with the M-Waves card connected to a Digico with Waves expansion, and if the “latency” will be the same on soundgrid vs MADI for digital split?

I would very much like to be free from SRC, so a 96khz connection will be much preferred.

ok. I guess that could be useful to some, I would never do this myself, but hey, different strokes 🙂 You can however interfere with the 300×300 link from what I understand. But yes, the mixrack will still work fine. I remember trying something similar on the iLive system, it was certainly not a succes. Audio coming out at the surface end can most definitely be affected.

+1 very obvious this should be part of a digital console!

I am sorry, but I dont see any reason why you would want to bridge other data heavy network stuff through the GigaACE connection?? Both the Surface and Mixrack have dedicated Network ports for control (Director, IP8, etc), and you can always move the DANTE card wherever you want it, 3 slots in the mixrack, 3 slots in the surface. So why on earth would you want to contaminate the GigaACE connection? It is already handling +300×300 channels of audio, it is not made for handling other network data.

Only one question. Why would you want to do this?

    Hi A&H.

Any news on ETA for MADI card?

Updating your console and mixrack takes 5 minutes 🙂

Different strokes I guess. I would not accept this kind of solution, relying on iPads and having the musicians jumping around different scenes.

Put up an ME-1 at each position, everyone will have to accept using the phones output at each station. If that is not okay, they should pay for a monitor tech.

The only valid other solution is supplying everyone with the same basic mix from a stereo group, and then they can add on top of that by muting and unmuting individual instruments/input channels or groups. The iLive could do this without phase issue between Groups and Input channels sent to an AUX – I suspect the same for dLive. Then you could drop all the scene recalling and saving, as the levels will just be as they left them.

Sorry, but I don’t think you will find a single console in the world made for that kind of operation, so naturally you will run into difficulties programming it.

If it was me, I would use ME-1 mixers for the musicians, where they can store and recall their own presets when they change instruments, completely independent of the console.
