But how about a DX functionality between mixracks? Would this not be A) easily implemented B) a great solution to the dual rack “problem” C) make you sell even more mixracks!! D) a great selling point on flexibility.

An not least it would be a space saving way to have a 64 input setup with separate FOH and MON rack/desk.

Come on, A&H, push the envelope and get even further ahead of the others! 😉

But theoretically, could you not open up for the possibility of using for instance a DM32 connected to another DM rack via the DX ports, to allow for audio and preamp control? Would be a nice way to scale systems 🙂

    In both unfortuneately.

However, I think A&H ought to make it possible for the dLive racks to act as expanders for other racks. I don’t see any reason it should not be easy, as it would just be allowing for connection from DX port to DX port on DM and CM racks as well. The protocol is already there, and it would be very nice for large scale stuff, since we don’t have dual rack functionality.

    A&H? 🙂

    Haha. No thanx!!

Multirack and soundgrid studio is available for Mac/UNIX! So I would imagine it would be possible to integrate a Linux control protocol as well.

Hi. Yes. Allen Heath, coulis you chime in on whether this will be a future feature? It would be so great to get rid of the external control computer.

So give us that 2u DSP only rack for FOH Nicola 🙂

Can you comment further on when this will be available?

One of the big things I am missing is the ability to do sel/mix/pafl one a single butting on the IP8, as can be done on the softkeys. Overall I think the abilities of the controllers should be greatly expanded – it is such a shame that it is so limited in functionality, since they are so great 🙂 Why not have fx parameters on IP8 faders? That would be the coolest thing ever, and make the dLive a much much better creative tool.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. Does the built in GigaAce (300×300) ports support going through switches? With the Waves V3 card I use managed switches at FOH and MON with port trunking to create redundancy. Would this work for the GigaAce A/B ports as well? Nice thing is it can be done with as many cat cables as one would like for increased bandwidth and redundancy 🙂

OK. Does this mean the GigaAce card can only communicate with other GigaAce card, and not the built in ports?

    Hi Nicola.

Would a C3500 fitted with an expansion slot GigaAce card support redundancy and preamp control from the built in GigaAce A and B ports of an S series DM48?

In a digital split system with a GigaAce card at both ends, FOH and MON, will you offer any kind of gain tracking feature?

Awsome guys! Couldn’t find anything about this in the documentation 🙂

Right now I am using director with a touchscreen setup and 2 x IP8, doing what you are suggesting. And I will be doing FOH and IEM with a 64/64 split on the dLive, supplementing with a few inserts via Multirack soundgrid, and a Digigrid IOS for I/O at FOH.

While it is fine, director simply is not nearly as well laid out and comprehensive GUI as the LV-1, and for a compact touch based FOH setup, the LV-1 is just a better option. So at some point I will move to the Waves Lv-1 or buy a surface. Depends on what I experience the following months of touring – but I would like for this setup to be able to tour in a very compact and flight-friendly package. Hence, no surface to begin with.

Furthermore there are a few things I would like to see evolve in the Director/IP8 possibilities.

I don’t know what you are referring to, but your comment doesn’t make sense.

LV-1 from waves is a digital mixer yes, but it needs inputs. An obvious setup would be to have a dLive rack (with or without surface) on stage for monitor mixing, and using Waves V3 card to send to a FOH LV-1 setup. All I am suggesting is that it would be very useful to then be able to have control of the DM mixrack preamps and provide gain tracking from within the LV1 mixer. Especially if there is not a dedicated monitor engineer.

Nicola, any plans to implement preamp control from the waves LV-1 Software?

My 48 channel analog split takes up 3 units… On the opposite side of the rack even. So no, it will make no difference. The only really good thing would be launching a DM0 or DM16, maximum 4u rack space.
