Also when using an AUX for this purpose, POST fader works better in this case so that changes at FOH also are reflected in the AUX mix. I do this for video camera feeds. Turn up all AUX sends equally, and then make slight adjustments for the video feed like maybe less bass, and/or more vocals or something. Since they’ll be post fader, they will change as needed with the FOH while keeping the other changes in place.

I think I found my problem. My primary iPad (Air 2) was running Qu Pad 1.90 when I thought it was on 1.91. I upgraded that device so I am hoping that was one of the issues addressed in the maintenance release.

Tablets:
iPad 2 Air IOS 9.3 / *Qu Pad 1.90 (just upgraded to 1.91)
iPad 2 (classic) IOS 9.3 / Qu Pad 1.91

Networking:
Fortinet FG-60C router (router only no WiFi)
Fortinet FAP-220B acccess point

Like I said I suspect it was that the iPad air was not updated, which I had thought that it was. I have another show for the Qu Pac Saturday, so I will see how it goes since the iPad was updated.

Also, when I switched to the classic iPad 2 as a backup when this issue occurred, there was no problems with that unit. It was on v1.91 from the start.

I use the same tablets and networking gear for my GLD 80 and 112 and have never had a single issue with them.

I will report back here after Saturday.

Only the Qu Pad app thinks there is a connection problem.

I can still see my Amps using their app as well as other network devices. This started with the latest update to the Qu Pad app. I am not losing signal, and to the contrary I have a really strong (WiFi) signal. It’s not the mixer either, because I can connect to it with a backup iPad.

The issue seems to be with the latest Qu Pad app itself, and not with anything else. As I said before the same exact WiFi/iPad equipment works with the GLD mixers with no issues at all.

I have used the same equipment without issue for a long time, and this issue has started since the Qu firmware / app updates took place.

IRC The two end banks on the 112 are what are used in the 80? I believe the middle bank gets omitted, but I could be wrong about this.

I also have both an 80 and 112. I have regularly moved show files between them without any problems. Also, both are v1.51 on the firmware.

I just used my Qu-Pac for hours straight in and outdoor show without a single problem with connectivity. I am using a FortiGate 60C router with a FortiAP 220B access point. DHCP is enabled, and I never have problems or dropouts using this setup.

Are you actively using the iPad when the drops occur, or is it going into standby mode and returning to the home screen? I have mine set not to do this, and it helps with wireless mixing apps.

The GLD doesn’t need a whole lot done to it IMO, but the Ducker/SC and mic models would be nice.

In addition I would really like to see some metering added to the DCA channels. I realize the no audio passes through them, but summed metering of the sources that they control would be great.

One other thing that would be nice, would be lockable (by admin user) scenes, that can be flagged as read-only so that other users won’t delete or overwrite them.

I used the first way too.

It should be pointed out however that in larger Dante networks all devices should sync to the network. Method 1 would not work in cases where more than 1 GLD (or other master devices) were part of the same network. In this case you should sync to the I/O port, then set the GLD as the preferred master in Dante Controller unless there is another master already configured.

Does this only happen when a remote control device (iPad) is also connected? I use both the 80 and the 112 very regularly and haven’t had this issue, but don’t use the iPad that often.

Did you download the “Touch Screen Reference” manual as well as the user guide? The touch screen reference guide has much more specific information it it about the software side of things.

My GLD firmware wish list.

1. Metering on DCAs
2. When ganging 2 channels, I would like an option for PAN control to work like it does in the Qu series for LINKed channels.
3. Read-only scenes, that only the admin user can modify, or delete.

My M-Dante card came with a token for a single DVS license. I use it for recording from my GLD-112 to a MacBook Pro. I am going to be buying another card for my GLD-80, also for recording, but giving me the option to run it as a monitor mixer too.

You can gang the mix outputs (faders) to achieve that.

I manage a GLD at a church, so this is the same reason that I would like a read-only scene capability. I want to allow users to create their own scenes, but don’t want them overwriting a set of default scenes. Right now, I do the same as Chris, and keep a backup copy on a USB that I regularly copy back to the console.
