I have two cables I made myself. One is about 25m (80ft) and the other is about double that. They are just made from cheap Cat5e that I got at a local hardware store. I got cable that was rated for outdoor use and so far it has held up pretty well. I just keep a box of Cat5 handy and I have a crimper and ends incase something would happen.

Everyone asks, what do you do if it gets severed during a show. It wouldn’t be ideal I’d admit, but when the connection goes down the music keeps on playing, and it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve found Cat5 to be pretty durable in general, though I plan to upgrade to a heavy rubberized jacket version someday.

    SSmith,

Do you have an ethernet cable connected between the ACE ports of the mixrack and surface?

    Kris,
It should not make any difference if i am sending the output of the group to a matrix or the mains or whatever.
Is it possible that someone tests this just to be sure that i don’t forget something stupid[:I]

I haven’t tested this, but my guess is that the pick-off point for a Group to the Main Mix or to a Group out are different.

If it is that way, I think it’s silly.

    Mario,

I had a similar problem with my iLive… though it was independent of phantom power. Did it sound like this? It was only on one channel though.

I had to replace one of the I/O boards in my mix rack.

So the surface control will work remotely using a wireless router and wireless adapter?

I think when the limiter is enabled, and becomes activated by a loud signal, the PK light for that channel (and page) illuminates so you know you are in limiting.

The pre-amp safes is a welcome feature… Just this weekend I did a two band show and after having stored the settings for the first band’s sound check, I had to add a few mic’s to my input list for the master of ceremonies after the second sound check. After intermission, I recalled the scene for the soundcheck for the first band, and marked the new channels safe. However, the preamp settings were overwritten and when they began to talk the level was lower than expected.

I would like to see flashing mix lights to indicate that a channel can or can’t be assigned to the currently selected mix.

setting per aux is better than global I suppose, but I think this should still be selectable per channel.

Actually, that is not what I’m looking for. The Pre/Post setting per channel, per aux is only to set pre or post fader.

From the looks of the block diagram and after further investigation, the setting for pre/post EQ/gate/comp/limit are controlled globally by the direct out setting. Which is unfortunate.
