I set my gains using the metering point in the preamp section, that’s what it’s for 🙂

I set mine to sit at about 0dB, and use the headroom as intended. Yes that sacrifices SnR, but the benefits are outweighed by the fact that you’ve just binned your headroom. In a live situation you cannot preempt large increases in signal.

Use the Alt-out. Assign it to LR, and use the alt-out level as your control room volume.

I doubt many people have experience of running Editor from linux, let alone a Raspberry Pi running Linux. However, I have separate experience of each.

Remember that there will be no offline mode under a non-windows platform, and Linux is not an officially supported platform at all.

My initial guess would be that you need more horsepower! The metering in particular will probably take a lot of CPU time.

Of course your post is a comparison between manufacturers, why else mention them? I second Mark’s words. Your iLive isn’t suddenly a crap mixer, just carry on using it.

It’s already been stated that further iLive development will amount to critical bugfixes only. If you’ve had the iLive for a few years and the investment still hasn’t paid off, then I question your business acumen.

The “upgrade ability” saw this console last 10 years.

You’d need to double up the channel you want. Use one as your FoH, the other as your monitor.

It will stop when they run out of either CPU cycles or memory 🙂

    dLive does it too:

    Latency

unless you’re using an FX slot.

Yes. It just provides extra input sockets with preamps and output sockets to which you can route to/from a fixed amount of input/output processing.

Adding preamps does not give you extra DSP horsepower. The Qu-Pac has 32 channels of DSP horsepower, but only 16 preamps.

Similarly, it does not give you extra busses and output processing, only extra output sockets that you can route to an output processor of your choice.

Knowing Neutrik, they’ll throw a shell around it and call it ThunderCon or something 🙂

One option you have would be to set the FX bus of your IEM to also be pre-fader.

How many spare channels do you have? Another option would be to duplicate the channels that need reverb onto spare channels, and unroute these spare channels from LR. This is somewhat akin to having a dedicated monitor desk.

As Surface runs Windows, is it possible to drop the resolution?
