Hey Nicola, does the card come with any software licenses (a la Dante)? Just wondering if it’s got anything bundled with it (Waves Rack or whatever)?

Steffen, from the perspective I’ve heard about the app development, the biggest issue with Android is the hardware uncertainty… all well and good if you’re loading it on a Galaxy tablet or equivalent quality, but A&H aren’t likely to want to deal with support questions for people trying to run an app requiring serious computing power on a $70 generic chinese tablet (I own one of those I was given for free, which is about what it’s worth – damn thing would have a hard time running Angry Birds let alone be a stable platform for mixing a band on!)… love them or hate them, at least Apple provides some certainty for minimum hardware requirements 😉

Director is fantastic Nicola, definitely no complaints there, but doing monitors with a MacBook is clumsy 😉 any timing updates on the iPad app?

Oh, and pretty please, when can we expect Waves 3 card (and where will that fit price wise against current options, say Dante)? If Audinate are dragging their feet on the 96k Dante card it will be tempting to jump ship to Waves given the need to clock the dLive at 48k with my existing Dante cards (and adding Waves plug ins is a plus obviously too).

One question I did want to ask in the Webinar Nicola, was when is the iPad app is expected to drop? Director is cool for offline setup, and basic stuff, but it’s still not anywhere near the user-friendliness of the iLive/GLD/Qu apps for quick changeovers (and fine control on the faders with a mouse/trackpad is practically impossible)!

When the Waves 3 card comes out the most fantastic thing in the world would be to also integrate this control into plug ins via the Soundgrid server (i.e. have a Waves plug in that maps to the right side screen & controls), but then that’s seeming far fetched at the moment (very Profile-y, I know, but then again people love the AVID gear for exactly those sort of features)…

I was one of the unlucky souls who had the issue with the rack not recognising the update & failing to connect to the surface, there was a very nervous hour between finding that out & being talked through a hard reset by TAG support in Australia (big shout out for them being so on the ball though!)… I’ll update to 1.21 this week and hopefully no such issues using the other port 😉

The screen is a tablet, the control surface is a new motorised fader bank which will apparently release with v1.3 – as I understand from a Facebook forum user who is at Infocomm, up to 8 of these motorised faderbanks can be chained and operated off the TCP-IP connection on either the rack or the surface… exciting development!!!

from Alex Schloesser (A&H) on a Facebook group 1st of June (Australian time)…..ahhh the excitement is building up. so May is not yet formally over, but it looks like we need a few more days for some final fixes. I would say definitely before the end of next week…

Soo, from all accounts Infocomm – one would hope that means any time now!

Be good to have an update on the availability Nicola, into the second month of Q2 now… it’s definitely becoming a bug bear using the dLive without (many shows we’re still taking out the iLives for just that reason)!
