    @heathmoore

I can only see one support ticket from yourself – back in October 2010 requesting gain-tracking on iLive – so it’s disappointing to hear that you feel we haven’t provided sufficient support for your iLive and GLD mixers.

You mention that your GLDs are failing every time you use them – please could you drop us an email at support@allen-heath.com so we can look into this for you and help you get it resolved.

    Thanks.

Some good ideas, particularly like this:

Reset + Mix + Select resets the complete channel to it’s defaults including Colour and Name

I will add some of these reset suggestions to the feature request list!

There’s no dedicated tutorial based on the scene system from us at present.

We did cover some of it in the 1.5 webinar which is here:

I have seen some tutorials online from 3rd party sources but we have not reviewed them for accuracy so can’t vouch for their usefulness!

We have a Firmware Reference Guide which is pretty exhaustive in terms of information, you can find that here

If there’s anything in specific you’d like to know drop our support team an email:
    support@allen-heath.com

    Hope that helps

We’ve not seen this before, any chance you could fire an email over to our support team so they can look into it?

Are you talking about Recall Filters or Global Safes?

If you’re asking for a quick way to remove Recall Filters from a scene (or range of scenes) then you could always use the new “Copy Filter To” function in the Scene Manager to copy a “blank” recall filter to one or more scenes. You could even have a scene stored with no Recall Filters activated to use solely as a “donor” for these situations.

Should also add that Multi-Surface, as well as all the other new features, is documented in the 1.6 Firmware Reference Guide which is available to download from our site.

    Hi Andy,

Just wanted to check in to see if you have resolved this yet?

    @ajfager

As Steffen stated, the inputs are shared but the engineers are free to create multiple processing channels fed from the same input(s).

So, for example, in a FOH/MON application both engineers could have 64 channels of discrete processing.
Equally, a 4 Surface application could be configured so each Surface has 32 discrete processing channels.

But Multi-Surface isn’t just about “splits”, it can also be used for runnning a parallel surface (for backup or B-Stage usage) or for sub-mixing applications (one engineer mixing the band, the other the orchestra) – and I’m sure our users will find lots of other creative applications for Multi-Surface! 🙂

    Hi Jay,

    1) How does a surface, or director, select a role to operate in? Can I “lock” them?

You can create, define and select the Role(s) in the Surface Preferences menu.

    2) Does it show on-screen what role you are in?

You can see the Role name on both the Home page and the Surface Preferences menu.

    3) Can I have soft keys to swap roles/surface layout on a single surface? I want to be able to do a full “swap” between FOH and MON and not have any inputs/mixes/fx of the other role available on the surface.

You can recall a scene from a soft-key which can change the surface layout but you would need to change the Role manually from the Surface Preferences menu.

    4) Surface-only recall. Can I lock that into a role? (V1.4, Running an opera with “roles” for recording, simulcast, house and monitors – there was almost a serious “oops” on a Director recall that was actively connected to the MR)

At present the Surface Only Recall is not locked to a Role, it is instead a global Surface preference, but I will add this to our feature request list as I think this is a good suggestion.

I would imagine that in many scenarios one Surface would initially recall the show – for example the Primary Surface – and once the show is loaded all Surfaces would be set to Surface Only Recall. I can’t envisage any scenarios where any Surface would need this option turned off on any of the Surfaces.

    5) In role safes, are restrictions applied to the surface definition to block what can be on a surface?
I don’t quite understand this question, please could you elaborate?
    6) In role safes, are input to mix and mix to mix restrictions enforced to not cross domains?

There is one Role Safes filter per Role. The Role Safes filter contains the same parameters as the Global Safes filter and there are no restrictions on what each Surface can block/allow in the Role Safes filter.

    Switching to Multi-surface
    7) Can you run a surface, no audio, through the regular network connections? This would allow multiple control-only surfaces without additional cards. (Note that it works fine today on S class, just audio shows a clocking error and obviously no audio/PAFL is available)

    Yes, this is possible.

    8) Can you forego the redundancy on the S-series to run a different surface on GigaACE A & B? Firmware update to disable the audio/network redundancy?

This isn’t possible at the current time. One Primary Surface can be run from the integrated gigaACE sockets and all Secondary Surfaces require a gigaACE or fibreACE module for connection.

    9) If you are running surfaces 2-4 via a GigaACE expansion card, is the network pass-through also available?

All Surfaces connected to gigaACE modules would have the Control Network Bridge switch in the ON position so yes, network traffic would pass through.

    Hope that helps!

Regarding the reports of “laggy” responsiveness in the filter/safe pages – we’re looking into it!

    Hi all,

The 1.50 Firmware Reference Guide is now online under the Documents tab of the dLive area on our website.

@vilddyret – there can be some “lag” the first time any specific page is visited, but it should become more responsive on subsequent viewings – this is also true of the scene update/recall filter/scene safe pages. I suspect this might be what you are seeing?

    Hi all,

I should point out that the procedure detailed by @milky isn’t a copy and paste function by design and unfortunately we can not recommend it being used as a copy and paste alternative.

However, we are looking into improvements for the recall filter system based on feedback from this thread so we hope to have an “official” solution for you at some point!
