+1 for an expander on the SQ

I have updated my dLive yesterday and played around with some of the new features at home using a live recording and virtual soundcheck. Some really great new featurs, especially the expanders are a desperately awaited feature (when will it be implemented in the SQ? don’t want to put pressure on A&H, but can I have it next week? 😉 ). So all fine, but with a little point for an improvement. The custom names for the IO ports are shown in all routing screens except the one for the virtual soundcheck. Can you also use the custom names in the drop down list there as well?

I am not sure, but I think it is not possible to have two different clocks in one Dante network (since there is a clock master in this network) and afaik there is no way to allow a node, like the SQ, to be part of two networks. So, SRC can only be done between the SQ and the Dante network. And afaik the only two sample rates which are supported by the SQ are 96 and 48 kHz. I never tried to use the SQ with a Dante network on 44.1 kHz, for instance.

BTW: that limitation of one network and one clock in this network is also true for the Yamaha Dante card, when I am not completely wrong. But maybe the Rivage can use two expansion cards connected to two Dante networks with two different clocks. But that is not questionable for the SQ since there is only one expansion card possible.

Good to hear that you found a way to optimize both consoles. BTW: the Gain and Phantom power is associated with the physical input socket not the input channel.

Hmm, I don’t know how to solve that, because there are too less information about the details of the differences. So, only a general advice can be given. Make a plan, together with the band, where to put what on each console. You can use the copy and paste function of the mixer, to copy processing and mix settings from one input channel to another to reorder the channels. Unfortunately there is no way to copy the name too, so this has to be done separately. if it is easier you can store the current settings of one console to a scene on the USB drive and load it to the other console as a starting point. Then you can assign the inputs on each console as it is required. Not a two minute job but doable.

I see what you mean. Probably the reason is that the design of the mixer config and what is stored where was on the very beginning of the development of the SQ. After a while they implemented a new function to save to and load scenes from the USB drive. And there it troubles starts. you can store the scene using one show and load it into another show with a different mixer configuration.
And you are right, a message which tells the user that the mixer configuration is now different from the show where the scene comes from, would be helpful. But I am afraid that this information is not available int the scene file, but I am not sure of that.

The Yamaha Rivage can be set to several internal sampling rates (word clock), so it can be easily in a digital audio environment without the need of SRC. So, a Dante Card with SRC might be new for Yamaha consoles, because they do not need it necessarily.
In opposite to this, the SQ works always, ALWAYS, with 96kHz internal. Therefore they use SRC for AES/EBU Output and the expansion cards.

I think those changes break the audio (at least it does on the Avantis) for a few seconds while the console changes it’s internal routing.

But,to be honest, for the user there is no difference between changing the audio configuration from scene to scene and have an audible dropout or having at least the same dropout, or a longer one, when you have to load another show. So, i think the idea behind that behavior is not thought to the end, especially for the multible band scenario.

You can freely assign any socket (physical input) to any input channel on your mixer. So there is no problem to assign local inputs 1-8 to, let‘s say, channel 21-28. and you can assign the main vocal (maybe connected to the input 9 of a digital stagebox) to cannel 1 and so on. There is only one limitation, you cannot assign two sockets at once to the same (mono) input channel.
The same is true for the outputs. You can assign your aux mixes to any available output in the system.
So you simply define the same order of input channels on both SQ consoles but do only a different input and output socket routing. That will help you to maintain the same order of the most important input channels on both consoles and also on the SQ4you app.

Maybe it is a good idea when you read carefully the reference manual, especially the very beginning of chapter 11. there you can find which parameters are stored in a scene and which are stored global for the current show.
There you wouldfind the information that the mix config, as well as the mono/stereo configuration of inputs and busses are global for the show. Is that a good solution for everyone? Probably not, but it is as it is.
So, every user is informed as long as the user has read the manual. And that is possible for all users.

Great to hear that someone saw it. So, there are only two questions remaining
    1) what will be included in this release?
    2) when will it be released at last?

in 99% percent of all cases it is a problem in Layer 8;-)
In this case, the problem is that you gave us too less information.

Once you have set for a FX unit the mode Mix-Return (instead of Insert) the FX returns will be available to be added to any of the six fader layers. But this is not done automatically, you have to do it manually.

some monitors engeneers doesn’t like work with dLive because don´t have this in his arsenal…

Hmm, how did they do the work before?
But ok, it would be a nice addon, but more important for me is the availability of an expander and better, not only so lala acceptable, reverbs. And many other usefull stuff. So, PSE or the 5045 is on priority rank 15 to 20 from my point of view.
