2011/11/22 at 10:18 pm #29091Madi is currently more used in broadcast enviromnents. So if you are planning on intergrating your ilive system in such an enviroment, use madi. Too bad a&h doesn’t have a optical madi out option, like yamaha.
If you’re a stand-alone user, dante is a good option. I’m planning on buying dante, but i only have experience with madi (not on ilive, but on lawo system) so currently i’ m reading into dante. If i finnish my research i will post again.
2011/11/04 at 8:31 pm #30029Yes, i can finally buy original A&H idr UGGS, are they controlled by a surface or can i use my ipad?
2011/10/17 at 6:00 pm #29748Use at least cat 5E cable
Cat3= 10 mB
Cat5=10/100mB
Cat5E=10/100/1000mB (short distances)
Cat 6=100/1000mB2011/10/17 at 5:56 pm #29747Cat 5 doesn’t support 1000mB speed, although your router, laptop etc. Say they have a 1 gigabit connection. It’s a grey area, cat 5 will run gigabit but not garanteed. Cat 6 cable should work according the standards. Look on the wikipedia for all the cable standards iso-norm etc.
Maybe audinate has a recommended cable list….
Good luck,

2011/10/11 at 12:35 pm #29717Try doing that with a japanese digital desk in that amount of time……
I’m currently touring in the netherlands with a musical. 32 wireless mic’s, an Idr 32 and a t112. I love it when the venue’s sound engineers look a bit worried when i unload.(digital in dutch theaters means either yamaha or digico) Then i set up in half an hour, and they ask me what i need. Left, right, Center, extra center for the balcony, Sub left, sub right, fly top left, fly top right and 2 stereo monitor groups. Then they look really worried, until i ask them what the actually have. And after ten minutes configuring, i’m doing my soundcheck….. Sometimes they start about the “what if somebody breaks your cat 5 cable?”, so i pul out my ipad or laptop and show them how A&H aproaches “minor” problems. and nobody believes the price.I love Ilive…..

On the d-link dir-815, everything works fine…..same brand, almost the same router. Very strange……

T112/idr32/ipad/d-link dir8152011/09/20 at 6:50 pm #29442I only use the first 20 channels, fx in/out, dca and main on the surface. Nothing else, so other pages or strips are empty. On the ipad i use the next 20 channels with the same preamp as the first 20 channels. I make a custom layer with channel 21-40 and the 4 auxes for each band member. As long as i stay in my custom layer and the foh guy doesn’t assign one of my channels to his empty strip nothing can happen, i guess.
Any other ideas would be welcome
2011/09/19 at 8:37 pm #29435Thanks everybody!
Here’s my intended work-around: i make an extra mono aux and connect it to a wedge next to the stage. I will have 4 stereo auxes for in ear and 1 aux for myself. I can select the aux-mix for my wedge and slide up the channel i wanna hear. Not great but workable.
The other question, if i select a mix button from a monitor aux, is a mix button selection on the surface unselected? Or vice versa, if i select my own monitor aux mix button and at the surface a fader gets moved up, will i hear that?Greetings!
2011/09/18 at 11:07 pm #29430My idea is to do a gain setup during soundcheck and during the show both use trim. I completly understand the whole concept, but he needs a great big kick in his analog you-know-what…..
2011/09/18 at 9:08 pm #29427Thanks for your comment
The gain and trim concept is hard to explain to the band’s own engineer. I myself prefer gain at the monitordesk as well, he doesn’t understand. (very old school analog guy). i don’t have 40 phsyical inputs, i use 20 inputs but i use the preamp of those channels for the next 20 channels. So channel 1 and 21 use the same preamp and so on.
2011/08/31 at 9:33 pm #29175Hi all,
It works, but………
– don’t use any ups, before or after. Somehow the ups distortes the phase too much
– use the belkin 1000 mb version, 200 mb is simply 100 mb send and 100 mb return, it’s a marketing trick…
– run a straight power line from the one to the other, nothing else on the same line
– the system is designed for households, so strobe lights and sudden powerdrops are a huge problem.In short, fun while it lasts, but don’t use it in live situations.
And yes, ACE works also, sometimes, not really, there it is again, gone again……….My advice:
Spend the money on beer for the stagehands that run your cables!2011/07/27 at 7:16 am #28859The ilive editor is free.. The mixpad app is much better than any yamaha app, i tried both. With the yamaha app you’ll have a mix deck remote, with the mixpa app you’l have a seperate, yet small, desk. The ilive tweak should be compared to the yamaha apps, both free and both almost the same…..
