Maybe totally unrelated, but if you start the editor twice on the same computer, the second editor shows the same picture…. I just found out tonight by accident

Scene fades are fine… But i would really need a “hold” button as well. Maybe even a “pitch” function or a manual crossfade. And different curves or times for different functions. So my monitor group for the band fades in earlier or steeper then the foh. The band can hear themselves just before the foh fades in.

Implementing scenefade would only be useful if A&H uses a new aproach, just scene fade on every parameter would be a bit contra productif. Just because other desks have it, doesn’t mean you should do it like other desks, innovate, make a new standard!

Just a little, slightly off topic remark, an apogee big ben doesn’t affect the sound quality anymore than using the clock from the a&h system… Don’t really understand why people use the apogee on an ilive system

What about a one unit high, low cost, 8 in/4 out expander? Maybe even a ace spliter so you can connect more of them. Or a mixrack without in or outputs, just 6 or 8 expansion unit connections. Could also be used when you have two surface and one normal mixrack as a dsp.

Duncan, and everyone else who is interested….

Maybe i should open a new topic called: scene programming or something like that. But currently i’m a bit too busy doing shows. I will open the topic with my workflow and everybody else can join in and leave comments.

I have to admit the scene management is not perfect but it beats yamaha by far, but only if you understand it. I will start the topic soon!

I just programmed a 158 scene theater show today followed by a try out show. I love it! No problems with the scene management so far…. But i would love a multiband compressor and insertable eq’s. Too bad my tour starts tommorow, i never update during tours. Everything looks great on the liveblog, i can’ t wait

Yes they should work, provided they have neutrik ethercon or cat 7 connectors allready fixed. The connectors, on the cable side, are not like cat 5e connectors. So check if it’s just plain cable or cable with connector.

Every fade with the recorded sound i do in qlab or ableton. I have in every scene a lead vocal dca and a backing vocals dca. If they need any fading in or out, i do that by hand. I wouldn’t want it any other way, if someone is too late they are not faded in automaticly, if they are to early, i can turn it on earlier, without changing the rest of the scenes. If microphones are switcthed, i change the pre amp. They are not effected by scene recall. If i have to do 40 or something scenes i don’t wanna change the old mic to the spare mic every scene because the patch is recorded in the scene. In my scenes i have recorded: fader levels, mutes, fx mutes and levels and dca assignement. I do my soundcheck with a 0.5 scene, before the show. During a show i rarely change an eq of a voice, front of house or monitors. So they stay the same as they were during soundcheck (if it is not broken, don’t try to fix it)

I do a lot of theatre shows, each with a lot of scenes, but i never had any problems. I have to admit i use scene safes as a last resort, but i never had any problems with that function either. I can imagine that your problem is really frustrating but your statement that you should not use scene safe in a theatre show is maybe a bit overdone.

    Good luck

As i recall, i registered my i live equipment. What if A&H just contacted all registered users with the question if they want to be in the world wide ilive database. If you don’t want to no problem, if you do, you might be ask to suply!

I actually like it….. At first i didn’t, but now i can fidle with the settings before actually applying it. Somehow it’s helpfull to see what a compressor would do, before it does it’s job. Guest engineer get confused sometimes, but i even had a engineer who changed an eq setting from a channel he didn’t select first. His complaints where the same as the complaints i see here. Maybe it’s better to call it “processing preview” and add an option to turn it off (and market it as a new, exciting feature!)

    Hello stix,

You are right, store all is a good thing, i us e it at the end of the scene list. What i meant was a store all scene as the first scene. But i never use it as my first scene

The big mistake is doing a store all scene as your first scene. When you do some eq-ing in the next 100 or something scenes and the next day you start with your first scene, you’ve lost everything!….. I make a scene in wich i have everything i need, like mute, level (not main or dca level), pan and delay. Then i copy that scene about 120 times. During rehearsel i tweak a scene, give it a name and update. The name is MY scene name. So ilive scene 37 could be my scene 41 , because i inserted scene 34.1 trhu 34.7 for example. In a new theatre i just make new main levels and leave them and i eq the veneu….
