Also worth checking it’s not set to usb source (not sure that’s valid for st3

Valid point since ST3 is used for the 1/8 jack input (local) and Qu-Drive but he did mention that he’s getting a signal so his input source is fine.

Highly unlikely but check if it’s assigned to the LR mix (press the assign button and see if ST3 lights up)

Save your scene and reset. If it works, it’s probably something you forgot somewhere.

On the Qu set any channel you want to be L and R on the Output patch, USB audio. On the PC, make sur your software is recording from input the same input. Example : On the Qu I have 17 as LR-L and 18 as LR-R. On the PC I have to record from input 17 and 18. You can choose anyone if you,re planning to record on a PC (just remember to select the right input on the PC) but for Qu Drive L-R need to be on 17-18 if you want to record the main mix

Also the mute button on the master strip will apply to the selected mix. And why use a stand for the iPad, it has a dedicated spot on the top left part of the mixer (Qu24 and 32)

You can map Stop, Play and Arm to the sofkeys. They all works except for the Play that doesn’t pause the recording.

Just did a test here. In Reason, feeding 18 tracks to the QU, USB Streaming mode set to Low Latency at 128 samples. 5ms on the input and 4 ms on the output. No dropout on playback while recording a new VST. That’s on a fairly old computer (Athlon XP 6000+, 6GB RAM)

4-5 ms with 2048 samples? This is actually quite amazing.

Normally this should be properly handled in 2014 but probably worth to test…
    …give me a minute…

You’re right about that. I’m expecting Allen and Heath to be on top of their game concerning that. Used to do some recording on a GS-R24M in Pro Tools 10 and !!. No issue at all. But it was running in firewire. Let me know how your test goes. I’m too lazy to setup a session right now 🙂

There’s just nothing wrong with the QU family. Very easy to use; intuitive, clear manual and even online videos by the company to get you started. I even mixed a live show the day after I got and all went pretty smooth. I knew how to do everything I wanted not even 24 hours after receiving it. Almost no learning curve if you’re already know how an analog board works. You just need to get some speed.

Probably a stupid question: Why do you want to use FX and EQ from the desk? Any modern DAW (and plenty of free plugins) should provide those manipulations, right?

Same EQ and FX parameters may sound different from one plugin/external device to the other. Maybe he likes the sound of the Qu? Or maybe he just like to work the old school way?

To be clearer in my previous answer, if he’s thinking about doing his whole mix on the Qu (the old school way with an analog mixer, a rack full of devices and no DAW), all the tracks will go through the mixer anyway so they will all end up with the same latency so no need to shift anything after doing his print. The DAW is only used as a tape recorder.

But the real question is, do you want to do the mix only or you need to record also from the board on top of previously recorded tracks? This is where latency can be a real issue.

You’re not talking about recording stuff from the mixer’s input to the PC. So in your case, latency should be irrelevant.

I would need more details about your session but make sure you’re not playing back the same source twice. For example, if you<re trying to playback a mutitrack session from the Qu-16, don’t playback tracks 1-16 at the same time you have 17-18 un-mute (which is the main L-R by default) it will flange.

Works but you’ll only be able to use 8 channels for inputs and 8 for outputs (software limitation. Get the full version if you want all the channels to be available). As for the download, you only need to download it if you want to use the Qu-16 as a DAW controller. Works fine as is if you only want to use it as a soundcard.

Tested this again this morning. fOH, everything is the way I was expecting it to be (centered unless you decide to pan) but in your headphones when you press PAFL, odd channel is left and even is right no matter what. I can live with that but I don’t think it’s supposed to be that way. Can anyone from A&H confirm this?
