When you say tracks, I assume you mean channels. To ensure time alignment, send ALL channels through Waves Multirack, whether you have plugins on them or not, and set your latency compensation in Waves.

    Keith,

If I upgrade from an SQ-5 to an SQ-6, do the DEEP plugins stay with the SQ-5, or are they mine and I can put them on the SQ-6 instead?

You have to replace your iPad. Whatever iPad it is, it can no longer be updated to the current versions of IOS.

I currently own 6 iPads between my wife and me. Only 3 can run IOS 10 or above so they still are used for professional purposes. The others are relegated home duty.

No. They’re a different form factor.

I am recording to an i5 iMac with 12gig of ram with the latest os High Sierra installed. The waves V3 card is connected directly to the iMac via shielded cat6. I am recording to an external hard drive connected to the firewire 800 bus.

I can see 2 issues here that might be causing problems. First, High Sierra can be very problematic with Soundgrid. The result of using High Sierra? Popping and cracking. Downgrade to Sierra and see if that fixes it. I had to and my problems instantly vanished.

The second issue might be the external hard drive? Is it a spinning drive or an SSD? If spinning, 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm?

Anyone have already used the waves system (on other desks…)with the differents solutions ?

Is it conceivable to use the waves rack on pc for live ? Or absolutely we need the waves server?

I have used Waves plugins live starting with the X32/M32 via USB. Then I moved to X32/M32 via MADI. Then to X-WSG card. Then to GLD with Waves card.

The short answer is “no”. It is not conceivable to run Waves plugins without a server, unless you plan on using it only for recording or using delay or reverb plugins which, by their nature, are delayed. Otherwise, there is too much latency.

I did play with it on the SQ without the Waves card. Not good for live. I have the Waves card on order now.

I use an Extreme Server (because I had an implementation of LV1 prior to my dLive), but in many situations, you can get away with an Impact Server if you’re not planning on taxing it too much.

What are your recording to? PC or Mac? What O/S are you running? What cables are you using? As Chris said, above, it might be a clocking issue. Or it might be a cable issue, an O/S issue, a hard drive issue or a Soundgrid buffer issue. Have you called Waves?

I have the same problem with dLive Director on my Surface Pro, too. I have to keep it plugged in to get through a gig with it. It must be very I/O intensive.

Yes. No problem. One controls gain. The other uses trim control.

So I know this is kinda old but I’m having a similar issue. Any update on this issue? I could not connect with my newer mac book pro using a thunderbolt ethernet adapter but when I used an older imac with a dedicated network port it worked perfectly so I know it’s not the card. Any insight would be great.

So I recalled this issue being discussed on the Waves forums. The issue is the Thunderbolt 3 -> ethernet adapter. Waves does not work with that. You have to go Thunderbolt 3 -> Thunderbolt 2 adapter -> Ethernet Adapter. OR people have reported that they use the OWC USB-C dock and it works fine.

SO Can I control a Dlive Mix-rack DM64 through the Slink Option card with an SQ6

No. The dLive controls it’s preamps. The SQ6 controls it’s preamps. You can tap into them. But you can’t control them.

There is no DX48 mixrack. You can currently connect a DX Hub to your SQ and then connect the 3 DX168’s to the DX Hub. Soon you will be able to connect a DX32 to an SQ.

    You definitely want STP.
