Okay thanks Tatsuya. I’ve read that but I’m still not really clear what it does that regular scene filters can’t.
    Could you explain?

yeah I’ve asked for this too. they said something along the lines of ‘don’t see any reason why we couldn’t consider that’.
    So…. +1 again.

By the way: do the NEQ12’s shelf bands have Q/slope control?
I think the A&H PEQ sounds good, but I’m really missing a slope control on their shelves.
Hoping the NEQ12 has them at least.

I forgot to mention that Mix Station is another option

    Hi,

There are already solutions available for this.

There is the one mix app, which allows artist to adjust their own mixes.
There is MixPad, which allows a second operator to control the several mixes from an iPad.
There is Director software which you could run on a computer, which allows you control over the full feature set.
You could build your own custom ‘app’ by using the ‘Custom Control’ software.

Could you explain what you are missing and would like to see in a dedicated IEM/Monitor app?

Could you clarify what you mean by that?

That obviously shouldn’t be normal behaviour.
It looks to me like the interface is being slowed down by something.

I suggest you start a support ticket if you haven’t already.
I will see if I can reproduce this on our board when I have some spare seconds.

Yeah it’s kinda subtle and it’s easy to accidentally send a FX return back to its FX send because you forgot you’r sill in sends on faders.
Happened to me a few times. I feel like it could be clearer in the GUI too.

Avantis has fx sends automatically created for each FX slot that is set as send/return (as opposed to insert).
The advantage of this is that A. they are automatically created and connected up properly and B. they have a short cut button on the fx send to the FX settings.
Disadvantages: they eat up a mix just like an aux, but they have less processing options than an aux plus you are unable to send to multiple FX from the same FX send, which is something I do to save on buses/mixes.
When you use an aux as an FX send, you have to go to the FX page, click on the ‘back panel’ of the FX you want to use, and select that aux as the input to that FX.
I usually use the dedicated FX return channels as the returns, but I’m sure you can also rout them to channels in stead, which gives you more processing options.

If you’re not at the board, just download director software to practice setting it up.
It’s not rocket science, but it helps to have done it before you have to do it on the spot.

It depends on what you mean.

There’s normal laggy: like swapping between the banks for the first time after recalling a session. After you’ve gone through all of the banks/layers, you’ll see the gui updates quicker when you go to those banks again.

There’s abnormal laggy: I’ve had crazy stuff happening. Like multiple second of delay, members of mute groups changing very slowly before my eyes (probably because it took several seconds to catch up to the mute group I had navigated to).
In my case this was probably due to a hardware issue which should be repaired now.
I haven’t got enough hours of stress test on it since the repair to know if it succeeded.

In short, she GUI normally is not always as snappy as I’d like, but it’s usually doable. It can manage to just about keep up with me.
When it’s not doable, and really slowing you down, something’s either wrong with the desk, or it’s fine but simply the wrong desk for you.
Both options are possible, but if the GUI is really laggy at times, you might have a hardware issue causing that.

Hmmm, kind of but not quite.

Say I work from a template show that is not your template show… (I do and so does everyone I work with).
Since there is no way that I know of that makes one of my own shows act as a true template file, I need to recall it and save it as whatever I want to call the show.
But after I’ve done that, afaik, the ‘last show recalled’ still shows my template file and not what I just saved it as.
Now understand that this is perhaps factually correct and by design and everything…
But in order for today’s show to appear as the last recalled/current show, I’d have to:
    1. open my template file.
    2. save it as ‘today’s show’
    3. recall ‘today’s show’.

    Is this correct?
If so, that seems a little cumbersome (certainly since recalling a show isn’t exactly snappy) and I’d hope that a more intuitive way of doing this could be implemented in the future.

Now I understand that doing a ‘save as’ on a computer doesn’t automatically turn that into your active file either.
Perhaps those of us who work with our own templates could get a way that allows us to turn a show into a template file.
i.e. if you recall it, it directly prompts you to save it under a new name and that immediately becomes your current session.

I understand that, as long as I don’t accidentally overwrite my template session, this IS effectively how it already works, apart from the fact that your ‘last recalled’ show could show something that’s days/weeks/months old.

We’re a team of three here, we all found it confusing and unintuitive, we’re not absolute knuckleheads.
Am I missing something or is it something that could perhaps be improved down the line?

    Thanks for considering.

Yeah, it’s very annoying that they won’t allow you to gang different types of mixes together, especially since they don’t offer an option for LCR(+)S masters.
I’ve got a matrix for each output after my masters. Typically L R C S.
You can do it like that but it’ll cost you a bunch of extra ‘mixes’ that you might not have to spare.
I use a DCA for those matrices for ‘master’ level adjustments. I gang them for different reasons.

A&H seem open to the idea of allowing us to gang different types of mixes together in the future, but of course we live in the here and now and there are no promises for the future.

    Yeah +1 again.
dLive has it afaik and I was so hoping for that to make it into Avantis v1.2

Would be very useful. Thanks in advance.

    * Make channel copies to copy ALL parameters (including sends, groups, un-assignments, Pre settings, etc…
    agreed

    * EQ on FX sends, not just the returns
Sure, but as a tip in the meantime: just don’t use fx sends, but use aux in stead. you’ll get more processing and flexibility at no bus penalty.

    * allow naming of Mute Groups (instead of just the group number, be able to change it to a specific name)
    sure

    * add more colors for the channel strips
    yes please!

    * allow stereo mix to jump out of DCA mix spill
    I don’t follow

    * allow Mono fx bus to route out from FX send
    I don’t follow

    * Allow two channels that are Ganged together to share the pan feature and be able to pan opposite, or mirrored of each other. So that if you need to quickly take a stereo and pan it mono to hear what the stereo is doing.
haven’t got desk or director available, not sure if this is already possible

    * be able to send groups in to groups (example: send the snare group in to the drum master group)
agreed, as a work around: you can send a group into an aux and use that aux as a sub group. you can also route back into channels and start the whole routing tree again, this involves a very small latency penalty.

    * change between more colors (i’d like to have more of a blue before it goes to purple)
do you mean the fader strip lights? I doubt this is possible, I reckon there’s only two colours LEDs (white and UV) to blend between.

    * have a setting where when you select a channel it goes automatically to a specific part of the chain on that channel. Meaning, example: I select my vocal channel and it automatically selects it and opens the compressor page.
    yeah that would be helpful

    * create setting where when you gang two channels together, you can have the pan knobs pan seperately from each other. Meaning, when you pan one channel, it pans the other ganged channel opposite from the other. A mirrored panning, so that two channels can both be quickly panned together, but opposite of each other at the same time. The Midas Pro series consoles do this, and it’s VERY helpful!
is this not the same question as before?

    * Be able to add/assign a group in to another Group
    same question as before no?
