Had sometimes stagehands that steal my power on FOH…
never had a real problem with that,
except the warning message that my surface wasn’t powered down properly.

As far as I know it is not possible to daisy chain xDR’s yet.

How about using Output with Mains and reroute it to the desk (via cable, S/PDIF ?) send it to a group, add the ambient mic and record the group out…?

Played a bit with the speaker matrix…

If you have a PA System containing nearfills, outfills and center cluster you can use the speaker matrix to transform your mix into your PA syystem needs without change your setup all the time.
So adaption on different lokations is easier.
