I am slow to the conversation. I looked at the Wifi solutions above, but it is expensive and requires a smartphone. For our church I am considering an 8 channel headphone amp that would feed small Bluetooth transmitters. I am thinking each person purchases a BT transmitter and pairs it. Then, they plug in when they arrive. We currently have a low power FM transmitter and a number of small FM receivers. A few people (fewer than 8) use them each week, but some with hearing aids must remove one or both aids to use earphones on the FM receiver. One person with hearing aids is already plugging their Bluetooth transmitter into an FM receiver and loves it. A headphone amp would eliminate the FM step in the process.

Latency in the wire would be measured in microseconds or picoSec. Even a 140Km fiber optic system I operate between two cities only has a round trip time of 1.4mS.

You have learned how wonderful the AB168 is. Since you are a portable setup like I run at church, you may like my band-on-a-cart. I zip tied the AB168 to a cart and installed cabling for each band member. The cables for each are contained in braided sleeving (typically Mic XLR, DI XLR, Monitor mix out, and 12VDC for IEM amp). The braided sleeve does not tangle or knot up. The cables go in a box with their Mic, DI, IEM amp. Mic stands hang on peg board hooks and two small wedges on the bottom shelf. See the attached photo – it is not pretty, but it is efficient. We can roll out the cart and set up a 10 person band in 10 minutes with no issues – very repeatable. Just one power cord and one Ethernet cable.

Sorry I am late to the party/discussion. I have great success with a low power FM transmitter for hearing assist. There are a couple of options for receiving. Many brands of smartphones have FM tuners built-in and then they can Bluetooth to a hearing aid or earbuds. The other option is a pocket FM receiver. We use this brand since they are digitally tuned and have a lock switch so the user can’t mess them up.

Some hearing aid users wear a pendant around their neck that have an 1/8″ input so they can use the radio with an 1/8″ cable.

Low power transmitters are another conversation. I have used a couple of different models.

While you have made an investment is personal monitors, I would highly recommend providing each person with a mix output from the Qu32 (4 mono and up to 7 stereo) let them control the mix (channel levels, eq, comp) with the Qu-You app on a smart phones. Some just use an old phone (no SIM) and wifi and leave it in their instrument case.. Band members love the app, and the grouping of channels. It reduces clutter on the stage and points of failure. Download the app a try it in demo mode to see how it works. Sell the Beringher kit. Just my opinion. BTW. You’ll love the QU32. My groups are set for Mix mode and show up on the Qu-You app. I’m 99% sure and I can confirm. I ‘need’ a Qu24 for home 😁

Yes, that “feature” was a big surprise and disappointment to me. I recorded the band channels hoping to play back the band and fine tune channel EQ, etc solo and with no one present. Had I known, I would have placed the band on the lower channels and other room mics on channels on the high end. I could still copy/move everything around, but I am not sure how this will affect mix outputs and Qu-you setups.
I assume that using the custom layer would not overcome the issue.

I use a monitor pair and still run it through a matrix for extra gain to get a decent record level and good signal to noise ratio. Before, the level was so low that the Audacity Normalize function also raised the noise.

For me, the mixer is always on first and off last, only because the d-snake is not always used in my setting. The scene I load has d-snake inputs and the mixer waits patiently while I walk to the front to power up the AB168. It should make no difference. These are independent digital devices that will find each other over the network cables.

I see no responses. The 168 is 15.4 cm high and a rack unit 4.45cm so it is less than 4 RU. I did not find specs on the rack mount kit.

I am late to respond, but I would like to continue the conversation. I ended up using a number of Rolls PM50s. We have setup a 10 person band weekly and have it down to less than 15 minutes. Everything, except instruments, is on a chromed wire shelving unit on wheels. For the IEMs I ran the cable and a long power wire along with the mic cable in braided loom. It coils up tangle free. I brought the 12v power wires together and source them from one 12v supply brick.
What I want for four vocalists is one multi-channel headphone amp, but most are setup for one stereo input rather than 4 or 8 separate mix channels. Does anyone have a good solution?

When you say “why do the faders on FX return not work?”. Do you mean that they do not change levels or simply do not produce effects?

I struggled early on to get any effects at all. You have assigned channels to the LR mix, but you ALSO have to assign the same channels to the FX. Press FX1 on select mix (on right) then holding the assign button on the left, Select the channels you want the FX1 to apply to and then raise the channel sliders. Excuse me if I misunderstand your issue.
