What are the most important features within the system that you need the ability to crossfade?

I must admit to being more than a little sadden at this response……scene crossfades have been implemented on nearly every digital consoles since the advent of the venerable 02R, even the analog midas XL4 had 0 to 10 seconds scene crossfades, 20 yrs ago!!!!! Aside from the much needed multiband compressor and the ability to mute/unmute individual EQ bands I fail to see what other feature could be more necessary that the scene x fade.

It would seem that A&H, with the introduction of the gld, have clearly set their goals to compete with the likes of the m7cl or ls9 crowd leaving the higher end users with little to celebrate……While I enjoy mixing on my iLive system, I find myself jealous of competitors’ (Digico ) rapidly increasing feature sets and scene implementation…….Unlike other posters I do not care for the need to mix with an iphone, ipad or other gadget, and while I am well aware of the iLive’s cross market appeal and A&H ‘s need to please the lower end user as well as the seasoned pros, I need pro gear, and that, includes scene fades…..

    Faders
    FX levels
    Pans
and I would add EQ band gains

    Hi Sam,

Thanks for that. I do understand the theory.
In practice however, the output routing, done via the editor does work and with the right ethersound to ace patch I got all surface IO to work except for the surface talk back. This was just a one off and if we were using this config regularly I would move the ace to port A.

    regards,
    Marc

The reason you cannot see the surface tab on your R72 is that you do not have a valid surface link for the system.

With iLive PortA is designed primarily as a mixrack to surface audio link, portB is designed for system expansion. If you do not have a valid surface link then the system will hide the option to adjust your surface output settings as they would not work anyway.

To fix this fit your ACE module to PortA of the iDR10 and Ethersound to PortB. Then connect ACE portA on the iDR10 to the ACE port on the R72.
Note: make sure you also fit the ‘bridge control network’ port on the ACE module in PortA to a free network port on the CPU rack. You should then be able to access the outputs page on the R72.

I would like the Editor to prompt you to save a show if it has been modified (like nearly every other program on the planet) to avoid the dozy gits amongst us just clicking it shut and losing a load of work!

    cheers,

You can route inputs to matrices on Digico desks… so I agree with Paul.

Just got our R-72. Very Nice!
One immediate frustration for a user used to our 144 surface is the GEQ to fader function with so few faders. It would be a great improvement if the fader scope could be selected by selecting the centre band on the touch screen.
    cheers,

Might well be the answer to DiGico’s Vacuum tube pre-amps!

I would like to be able to save strip layers separately in the scenes. This seems more logical to me than just banks – e.g. in a festival situation – 1 band per layer.

It would be useful to be able to assign the wedge and IEM output levels to a PL6 fader.

    I agree.
    (Congrats on 1.42 BTW)
Unless I’m missing something why is the “Self Key´d” a pulldown if you can’t select anything?
