No channel mutes on the processing screen, you will find those on the Fader screen.
The Auto Gain will only raise levels to around 0.db, I found that in a live environment that it wasn’t just quite enough, so I tend to run slightly hotter without any problems.
@BEB,
I purchased my CQ-20B upon launch and have don’t countless hassle free shows since. The app, bluetooth and USB have all been rock solid, no issues.
🙂
But if they had designed it just like both the QU & SQ app it would have been a far better experience. Have you used those?
I agree wholeheartedly, the CQ app in comparison is really clunky and not ideal if you like a fast workflow. A custom layer would drastically improve it.
Although I have the Mixing Station, I have never had to use it when I work on my QU as the native app just works, but with the CQ I find that I swap between the two apps.
It is not currently possible to set up a custom layer, but it is just one of many feature requests. So hopefully it may come in a future update.
So for the time being I would recommend that you try out the Mixing Station app that will let you do just that, it is a fully customisable app.
Check out the Mixing Station app, fully customisable to your personal needs etc.
You could just create a scene for that purpose?
Features that I would like implemented are:
1: Custom layer
2: FX return EQ
3: Mute groups
There are probably other non important additions that would be welcome, but at the minute nothing else springs to mind.
Can’t answer your question as I only have the 20B, but why not use inexpensive DI box. I would use one of those even with my 20B.

You need to think of it as like leaving your PC/Mac permanently on, it won’t be a problem until like, @KeithJA&H points out, the fan will be pulling in dust particles. If you were to open up a traditional desktop system (tower) all the components would be covered in dust. A quick blow out with compressed air and everything is good again. That isn’t as easy with a digital mixer, regardless of model.
Just something to be mindful of if leaving permanently powered on, dust could be the potential downfall of your CQ.
🙂
Very strange, I haven’t witnessed that anomaly with my USB stick or SD card and I am using the CQ-20B. I can access all files via my iMac when required.
The only minor issue I get is sometimes the files on my thumb drive can sometimes become inaccessible, they can be working one minute but not the next. And the only way to sort out this is by powering down the CQ. Doesn’t happen that often thankfully.
It does not.
🙂
Just to confirm, it isn’t possible to playback from the USB thumb drive and record multitrack via the SD card simultaneously due to both mediums sharing the same internal hardware.
I found this out at the CQ’s second show, and after a chat with Keith, he confirmed the above.
🙂
Yes.
