Not to be an ass about this but if you had done your homework ahead of time you would not have bought thát particular laptop for the job at hand.

Out of curiousity: why isn’t your current (USB2 equipped) laptop up to snuff ?

I can only share how I set up an IEM mix, don’t know what “the rules” are…

Since I take the signals for the mix after the channelstrips they are pre-eq’d and pre-compressed so I simply use the compressor for the monitor as limiter at 0 dB. I also pan the instruments according to where they are on stage.

I use little to no reverb and only on the vocals, I don’t want to do anything to impact the transparancy of the mix. The crosstalk in the mic’s from the stagevolume also gives some “natural reverb”.
I don’t use ambient mics for the audience either as they can be heard via the overhead mics.

All this may change if and when we play bigger stages though…

Maybe the shop you’re buying from has a demo stick ?

If not, I agree with Bob; make sure you have an empty and compatible stick available, format it and record 18 tracks onto it.

That can’t be as the admin account doesn’t have a “access scene x to scene y” option. Are you absolutely sure you are loggod on as admin ?

I’d use a dedicated mp3-player of sorts if I were you but if you’re set on the usb thing your best bet would be to re-record your mp3’s by plugging your current computer into the desk and then making a stereo-recording of it. I doubt if a track that has been converted from WAV to MP3 and then back to WAV is going to give you a satisfying result though….

I use a little program called “core manager” (I think) to determine how the cores are behaving. At 1.7 Ghz, I don’t think you can afford to use just one core for audio duties.

On the occasions I ran into latency issues the single biggest offender was the wifi searching for available networks. Turn your wifi adaptor off or at the very least make sure it doesn’t keep roaming.

I’d take a long hard look at your I/O screen if I were you. At the very least it seems the output of your DAW goes to channel 17 + 18 on the Qu

For this reason I always set my Ipads to “never go to sleep” when I’m using them with my Qu-SB. The swipe is probably bacause you’ve set your network to “hidden” ? The moment my router has booted my Ipads are connected but I’ve also set them to not ask for connecting to all networks they see but only the familiar ones.

As Andreas said; tap the little arrow to the right below “tap to name”.

Also, don’t forget you have 2 eq’s per aux/mix available to hone your wedges’ tone.

Here’s another thought: you haven’t set it up so that the reverb is feeding back into itself have you ? (And don’t ask how I got that idea)
