Did you also arrange the (usb) routing on the desk so it goes “ 1 to 1, 2 to 2 “ etc. ?

I did look up “reasons for blue screen” on a desktop in this case and I’m not really sure if and how that is comparabel to what we’re using. There seems to be no solid answer, it can be a number of things hardware or software related.
Going by that line of thought, have you tried a fresh install of the software ?

While a UPS is never a bad idea, you should be able to replicate the issue using a variac or something along those lines to feed the desk with under- or overvoltage.

@ Dick: I never thought about that suggestion re backup drives in case of an emergency. ( never needed it fortunately). One thumbdrive with the OS and one with scenes/shows both formatted through the desk ?

Is it possible the pot you’re turning is bad ? Do you use that same pot for other functions too and if so does that work ok ?

Have you ever tried to replicate the situation by doing a “virtual soundcheck” using the Qdrive ? That would allow you to monitor what’s happening without the live-stress.

Are you using a lot of compression on the mains ? If the treshold is around the 10 mark you can run into what you’re desrcibing.

Do you have lot of spill from the wedges into FOH ? A musician deciding to back of + you pulling him/her back a little goes double that way.

It does with my SB but to be honest my Ipad feels much nicer…

Put your file on some sort of mediaplayer, play that through one of the inputs of the desk and let your Qu-16 record that either as a stereo file or as one of 18 multitrack files onto your thumb drive.

Not to be an ass about this but if you had done your homework ahead of time you would not have bought thát particular laptop for the job at hand.

Out of curiousity: why isn’t your current (USB2 equipped) laptop up to snuff ?
