I too have a GLD-80 and a QU-16, and would like to se this implemented. Both consoles can individually talk to a AR2412 using DSnake. I had hoped to digitally split and share the DSnake. When the QU-16 was first released I remember seeing that this would be possible, has anybody tried it? I presume that the QU-16 would be the master as it doesn’t have controls to accept an external clock.
Perhaps A&H could tell us if this will be available in a future update.

I have been using 80m of Van Damme Tourcat CAT 5e flexible stranded cable with no problems on my GLD and QU-16 with AR2412. I got the cable from CPC (100m for £133 ish) along with some Ethercon connectors and a cheap reel from Amazon.

Don’t get me wrong, I think that Dante is a superb solution. My only gripe is the cost , nearly a third the price of the console for a single card. What if you could use the ME interface? The ME1 can be plugged into the monitor port on a AR2412 or DSnake connection so the DSnake must pass the required audio. The decoding chips obviously exist in the ME1 at a reasonable cost, the only problem is getting the playback Audi back into the GLD.

I’m just speculating about v2 hardware, but a GLD manufactured after 14th June 2013 won’t play mp3’s and appears to use a different sample rate for USB recording.

That’s interesting Chris, I wonder what else has changed in the v2 hardware? I haven’t had any issues with my GLD which was an ex demo unit , I think it was manufactured in September 2012. Just out of interest where are GLD’s manufactured now? Mine was in the UK.

    Hi MozZ,
If you have a new gld-80 it will not play mp3’s check the knowledbase https://allen-heath.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/451/124/gld-what-codecs-are-supported-for-usb-audio-playback, older desks will.

Donmr, I seem to remember that when people upgraded to iOS 6 there were some issues with connections only working when connected to Internet. Have a search of the ilive forum, I remember some solutions were posted.

I like your thinking Chris, certainly it looks as though it is compatible with the AR2412 etc.

The specs were translated by google translate so might not be 100%
