Great update! particularly like the ability to playback multitrack recordings from QU at 48k. After selecting 48k in the setup page, all I did was drop the old folder(s) (QU-MT001 etc) into the SQ drive usb multitrack folder and away it went, even with SQ recordings already in the folder , no renaming needed for me, Fantastic! thanks to the great team at Allen and Heath.

Thanks Jake, I hadn’t realised that the SQ records 16 tracks, I had assumed it did 18 the same as the Qu.

    Cheers

Formatting to FAT32 on Windows 10 is not supported for ‘larger’ >32 GB USB flash drives. However I have had success with a tool from the Verbatim website, the tool is called “SmartDisk_FAT32_tool.exe”. I have just used this tool to format a WD My Passport SSD (500GB) that was not recognised by my Qu-24,the drive is now seen by the Qu and I am able to reformat it using the QU format utility. I’m just experimenting with a multitrack recording, its been running now for 40 mins without any errors being reported, fingers crossed!

It is possible, but you have to ‘side load’ the google App Store to the amazon fire. I have been using the QU-You app and the mix station app on the Fire 7″ and it works fine. There is a guide – https://www.howtogeek.com/232726/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-your-amazon-fire-tablet/

Hi Rob/David, just checked with my QU-16 and all metering is working on my Amazon Fire with the free version, will update to the Pro version tomorrow. The app also works simultaneously with the Q-pad and Q-you apps. Many thanks Dave.

Hi, it looks as though the excellent Android Mixing station QU and Mixing Station QU Pro are now available from the Google play store. I have been running it for a couple of weeks on a Amazon fire (side loaded) that I like robocurry picked up in the Black Friday deals, even on this it seems more responsive than the ipad app. Thanks davidgiga1993.

I like this idea Mark, saves using a fader on the custom layer or switching layers.

It’s possible that you have ST3 fader up. It’s known that ST3 (Stereo input 3) can introduce the noise you are describing if there is nothing connected to it. Try muting the ST3 input.

I can only report what I have experienced, and as I say isolating the Hard drive mechanically and acoustically cured my skipping issues on the night. Several years ago I had a similar issue with a Sony HD HDD camcorder that would blue screen if operated in high acoustic noise area’s, that was put down to acoustic vibration of the hard drive, switching to the memory stick in the same camcorder cured the symptoms. And yes ANY mechanical device can be affected by vibration.

Did my first gig with the QU-16 last night, It is a great desk, however… I was going to record it on my WD passport 500 gb drive, I have used this drive before to record a rehearsal with another band and it worked very well , no issues at all. I recorded the sound check and the drive started well but then started skipping and jumping on playback. I then remembered this thread and wrapped the drive in some foam and cloth and decided to record the gig anyway, played back today and everything is good no skipping or jumping. So in conclusion the skipping I was experienceing was down to sound level and vibration affecting the hard drive.

Thanks for the info Dave, looks as though you have exhausted all possibilities apart from firmware updates.
+1 for the dedicated firmware idea to allow the QU-16 to connect to AR2412 monitor port to allow monitoring / recording
