The QU is very picky about USB drives. Be sure to only drives that have been reported as compatible, like the ones listed in this thread:
2021/12/22 at 7:39 pm #105013Wow, thanks you guys!
Yes, I’m recording to a USB stick. I’ll try Giga’s method.
Thank you!2021/07/29 at 7:35 pm #102597Have you tried a factory reset and firmware update?
I had a problem early on with my QU16 with it going all unstable, and a factory reset fixed it.2019/03/18 at 3:39 pm #82782I have an amazing 256gB flash drive that records in multitrack on my QU-16 beautifully.
It is the SanDisk SDCZ880-256G-G46 Extreme PRO 256GB USB 3.1No glitches, no problems. Plenty of space.
This one crushes it.2019/01/31 at 7:02 pm #81694I have an amazing 256gB flash drive that records in multitrack on my QU-16 beautifully.

I run sound for my band, and I have my iPad mounted to my mic stand when we’re performing live using QU-Pad.
I start and stop my multitrack recordings via iPad without even having to touch the mixer. It’s fantastic, and now the only problem with our recordings is the playing! LOL 😁2017/06/28 at 5:10 pm #64063They’re taking the 600mHz range away too now?!
Man, I’m glad I went digital this year.2017/05/24 at 2:57 pm #63545Looks like you’re arming it, but not actually starting the recording.
You must hit play after pressing the record button.
2017/04/04 at 8:51 pm #62650This rig is solely for my band, where house sound is not provided.
The existing configuration has a really nice sound (the QU16 is an amazing board), but I am looking forward to hearing a properly crossed solution.
2017/04/04 at 3:48 pm #62638I appreciate the assistance, but was the sigh really necessary?
Not everyone is as proficient or experienced as the pro guys.Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
2017/04/04 at 3:44 pm #62637Well, this method does seem considerably less complicated. Hard to argue with that!
Gonna need a few more cables for this method. I bought 2 short XLR patch cables specifically to run L/R straight to the Power Amp, but for this configuration I’ll need 4 longer XLR.
Makes good sense though. Thanks!Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
2017/04/04 at 2:27 pm #62630So Bob, you’re saying send the L/R stereo out to the 2 sub inputs and then let the active sub out send back the signal with the lows filtered out?
Will a stereo mix be maintained? I only have a single sub.I don’t understand why they didn’t include a dedicated subwoofer out on this unit.
2017/04/03 at 9:46 pm #62614Thank you!
The Airickess approach is what I was hoping for. Thanks for the input!2016/12/20 at 4:46 pm #59986What’s the best USB 3 HDD 1tB or bigger that can reliably record in 16ch multitrack for full 45min sets?
The Western Digital My Passport Ultra has hiccups and skips.
Thanks!2016/12/13 at 6:32 pm #59857Multitrack recording encounters occasional skipping with the WD My Passport Ultra.
I wonder if a higher quality cable would help it perform better. Might be that it comes down to the QU-16 not being able to get enough juice to it.
2016/07/12 at 2:45 pm #57118This was Extremely helpful, Dan & co.
Thank you! I learned a lot!
I was using a version of Dan’s idea, but had gotten frustrated for 2 reasons:I had my subwoofer on mix 4, because I didn’t know you could set the stereo mixes to mono, independent of the L/R mix.
I got frustrated having to constantly adjust the subwoofer mix level because I didn’t know about the “Post Fade” trick.
Now I can run subs on Mix 10 (for visual simplicity – nearest the L/R fader), and slave the level control to the L/R fader. Brilliant!
Thanks guys!
