I have a Surface Pro 4 and just tried it for you. No issues.
Thanks. Came from the GLD’s and those were among the few things that were different in the interfaces.
According to all of the documentation that I read on-line, the AR2412 must be connected to the GLD with the AB168 connected to the Expander port of the AR2412.
You can now run an X32 with a X-WSG and a SoundGrid Server and have a nearly identical system as a GLD for $2k.
I run sound on both an X32 (with DL32 pre’s) and GLD-112 with AR2412 and AB168. There is no comparison in the quality. A&H is heads and tails better than the X32.
Looking forward to meeting you!
You cannot connect a QU-16 and a GLD-80 to each other. The only way that you could run both board (one as FOH and the other as monitor) is by using a splitter snake.
Those prices have been in effect for some time, now. $1699, $2299 and $2999.
No screen shot attached.
Nicola,
I look forward to reading about that when it’s released. Thanks!
Can you use a GLD in TCP/IP mode as a controller?
Page 84…”Place it high up to avoid obstacles such as people and equipment. Avoid locating it behind pillars or walls, near metal beams or on top of loudspeakers.”
My 2.4 GHz tablet constantly loses connection when the room fills up with people. (Maybe due to their phones.) So, I am seeking out a better place than on my mixer table at stageside. If not on top of the speakers, then where? Hang it from a light tree?
I assume that the reason it says not to place it on top of a loudspeaker is to eliminate the possibility of it being vibrated off. At “large” venues, I routinely will attach my router to a line array with industrial velcro. If it’s a truly large venue, then I will add an access point since I’m probably already running wires to FOH anyway.
Speaker on last. Speaker off first.
That will solve your problem.
It doesn’t need to be a high end laptop since all of the processing is down at the server level. I have a 15.9″ Toshiba convertible laptop, Quad Core I7 with 8 GB Ram and 1TB drive that I picked last year for $550. I know you can find really good laptops starting around $450.
You need an M-Waves card ($500 – $1000 on e-bay [$1599 new]). You need a Waves Impact Server ($400 – $500 on e-bay [$700 new]). A Waves Bundle starting at $99 for Musician-2 or separate plugins starting at $39. A laptop. A gigabit switch (< $50). A few Cat5e cables to connect everything (<$10).
And you’re ready to go.
Actually, it was the price of the card since I already had Waves Mercury and 2 Extreme Servers in my studio.
But for less than $2k you could implement Waves with a nice package on your GLD. How much did you want to spend on an upgrade vs purchase a new board?
