I have a Qu-16, but convinced my band mate that this would serve him well. I may be posting in the future on his behalf.

It’s kind of a Fat Finger Disorder…I’ve even tried one of those little “pen stylus” things and it’s still too course. I am hooked on recording to the Qu Drive. I find the headroom wonderful for getting a great starting point while tracking. I like the “marker” concept. When I used a Roland VS-1680, I could put markers on the timeline during or after the recording. This would certainly take some aggravation out of the working environment.

I agree. The Q-Drive is really convenient; revolutionary actually. Record to Q-Drive, transfer to DAW computer, edit and do whatever you need to with the final audio product. Best of luck!

I’m hoping the microphone EQ library will grow as a function of time…I was really pleased with how the Elvis mic (55) took to the EQ as compared to the others. That was the first time it didn’t sound “thin” to me.

I am really happy to be an Allen & Heath user! This firmware update with the Shure and Sennheiser EQ libraries is great. I dug out the matching microphones from my collection and was able to try out the Shure 55, 57, 58 & Beta58 eqs, plus the Sennheiser e835. I used the 58 vocal eq on the 57 and it sounds great for vocals. The 57 snare eq was a bit bity for vocals to me, but t5hen again a bity snare has its place!

Hi NZdave…to be honest these Turbosound ip2000s with the A&H Qu-16’s stock acoustic bass PEQ (tweaked slightly) setting gives me a better sound than anything I’ve used over the years for upright bass. I’ve done a few gigs over the past month using the rig. I had a percussionist on one side of a speaker with the overhead mic at ~7 feet up and only 2-3′ from the cab and it didn’t feed back. My vocal mic was directly in front of it and I was essentially standing in front of it with the bass. We had acoustic guitar, mandolin & 2 vox mics in front of the other cab and were playing “party loud” on St. Patrick’s Day in a local roadhouse pub (tight squeeze/no monitors). It worked great. Side note: I love recallable preamps! I like this rig in my studio (reduced bleed vs. conventional cabs) since we are recording as of late without headphones. I agree with Andreas regarding limitations of the rig, but most of the venues we play in require patrons to be able to carry on conversations (winery, microbrewery, etc.).

Yes Sandisk Extreme are worth the expense…I have 32GB and a 64GB …the PNY Turbo 64GB has been retired to domestic duties…

I bought a PNY Turbo 64GB and need to report that I got 9 errors (this is after QuDrive formatting). I also have a SanDisk Extreme 16GB that records without errors. I needed more than ~1hr.45min. recording time during rehearsals, so for $20 I figured “why not try it”. After listening to the playback, yes there was an audible error, but it works fine for making a “rehearsal tape”. PNY Turbo 64GB are not without errors.

I’m not so sure the Qu-16 is the best choice for your needs.

    Why don’t you try it?

I believe the DAW is using the correct interface, but is outputting the stereo master buss back to the Qu-16.

Qu-16 is the interface. I want to know proper patching so that everything is one-to-one for playback. When I’ve played multitrack USB streaming audio back into the Qu-16 it comes back stereo. This may be due to the DAW and if anybody has experience with Reaper and has a Project Template with the associated Routing Matrix of the DAW, this may solve my issue, if you are willing to share. I’m looking at pg. 57 in the manual and will see if I have my Qu-16 set similarly. FWIW, I also have Digital Performer 7.24 and Mixbus 3 on the Mac, so if you have a solution with either of those DAWs, I will certainly consider using that instead of Reaper.

As for Win XP…the computer has a Lynx 2C soundcard and Samplitude Pro loaded on it…and it has “low miles”…there are reasons to use it…professional grade hardware and software!
