2023/02/02 at 6:20 pm #111265Last show I used Aux 8 in stereo. I copied my main mix settings first, then made adjustments. in this, the drummer hits extremely hard, and the singer sings soft, so my FOH channel levels weren’t optimal, but running it in the aux gave me the ability to change levels and still have effects running for the both the FOH and live feed. Because my FOH system is fairly flat EQ’d, I really didn’t need any eq changes for my live mix, only individual channel levels.
2022/12/30 at 1:55 am #110626Found it. I was viewing the meter along side of the eq thinking that I was getting the whole picture. Really, I was pushing the channel front end hard and didn’t see it with the EQ and compression I was using. I went back to each channel and set the input gain while looking at the input screen instead of the EQ screen and it became clear. thanks
2022/12/20 at 2:56 pm #110527I’m going to be recording a band tonight, so I’m gonna go through the settings again to make sure I’m not clipping somewhere.
2022/11/28 at 3:05 pm #110192just plugging in a kick mic without a pad caused a nasty sound. LED showed that it was hitting 0db with input gain turned all the way down. tried several mics, beta 52, D6, etc.
2022/11/27 at 9:14 pm #110176I’m with you on everything you said. I’m a little less than a year into my SQ6, and though I’m enjoying the tone, It took a few gigs to get used to it. Part of my problem is that I tried to do too much too soon. I setup submixes with eq and effects, which sounds like a great studio idea, but it took a bit to get used to it live. for example: I had the drums all submixed and I used a compressor to parallel crush the kit, cool. then I added an eq to boost low end, cut low mids and boost highs, things I do on drum channels anyway…but I forgot that I did that and really fought with the kick drum eq especially. just too much bass. lol. my bad on that one. I also was used to the channel gain structure of the X32, so it took me a minute to figure out that I had to pad the kick channel even though it wasn’t showing a clip light.
I bought the compressor add on pack. It did kinda tweak me the wrong way that it cost that much more after paying that much for the mixer. I got this instead of the Wing. I would like the EQ pack, but I just can’t justify it yet.
2022/09/02 at 7:28 pm #108834I’m using matching tom mics, so I find that the gentle EQ moves that I make translate well across all mics. I’m talking subtle EQ moves though, not major boosts and cuts.
2022/07/20 at 12:06 am #108111thank you so much for the help. I’ll try those compressors.
2022/07/17 at 7:54 pm #108067fixed! effects send and return were all set wrong. sounds great now. thanks
2022/06/28 at 5:37 pm #107811I have not. I will try that out. I’m so new that I didn’t know they had a pad option on the channel.
