The most reliable setup in the case is with two computers and Dante, really. Recorded several performances in multitrack, no issues. I tried other various combinations, but none was close to Dante solution (can’t say for Waves though).
I’d really hesitate to playback something from DAW and simultaneously record to the same DAW because of performance and a possibility that something may go off, especially with Logic (10.4+), which was incapable to record more than 10 tracks at a time (tried different computers, different disks, no luck). In the meantime, the same machine (as small as MacBook Air 2015) hosting Live, or Reaper, or Cubase, if you will, can do multitrack recording in DAW flawlessly up to 32 tracks for sure, verified.

    Thanks.

My two cents, with multitrack recording on the console, keep in mind that it is not that black-and-white. There is a list of devices other members of the community tried with different results: https://www.allen-heath.com/usbdevicelist – for me it narrowed down a list of devices to try on my own, and to be honest, in past some devices worked well in past, then started getting me errors. Reformatting didn’t help. Perhaps, performance degradation. I recently switched to Extreme Pro SD card from Sandisk connected via a converter from SD to USB, and it worked well for the 8-hour-long test. Will see how it will work during upcoming shows.

    Gaston,

I strongly recommend to have SQ MixPad used to allow monitoring the sound from the house, not booth, considering the constraints you mentioned above.
For controlling your SQ with mobile apps, you must set up your own “audio” network with WiFi enabled, and so you need to install your own router (plenty to choose, but I ended up with Linksys, especially because of Dante, but that’s another story). The SQ and iPad/iPhone must be in the same network in order to control SQ with those mobile devices, that’s the major point here, and so other available WiFi networks cannot be used here. The SQ is inserted into the network using CAT5 or greater cable, i.e. using physical connection (see the “network” connector at the back side of SQ). The mobile devices are connected to your router using WiFi – same way as at home, in fact. Once configured correctly, it will allow you to control SQ from anywhere in the venue, depends on the radio-frequency transparency of the walls and distance. Just to remember, once your mobile device’s connected to the “audio” network, you loose ability to connect to Internet from those devices, unless your router was connected to Internet – that the reason I normally use a dedicated iPad to run SQ MixPad app (or other apps within the “audio” network perimeter) during mobile performances, while leaving my phone for usual communication purposes.

    Hope this helps.
