One year later, I return to this thread, for the worst possible reasons!
Last December my iDR16 gave me the same problem the iDR48 reported one year before!
    Mix Rack Boot Failure
Now I’m caught in some sort of feud between the manufacturer, who does not aknowledge a two year warranty period from my purchase date, just a one year period from the representative purchase date.
So I’m stuck with a repair cost of 700€ for something that A&H has aknowledged right in this thread to be a recognised manufacturing problem.

Has anyone faced this kind of issues with A&H? I really want to keep with the brand, just not like this!

Hi, I do agree with what you guys are saying, the good and the bad.
With bad I refer to the poor build quality of the T series surfaces.
My T112 may not survive the summer because the plastic cover is peeling off with the heat and direct sunlight. I know it’s an English desk, where these are not main concerns, but in Portugal, it sucks…
    However, sound… that’s something else.
We were hired to provide sound support for a series of rehearsals a big Portuguese band were doing for a show with a military band playing along. They needed to rehearse the arrangemnts, timing, etc… Not a big budget, so ask the little guys.
We came in with ou T112, and their sound tech, a very well respected professional in our country, didn’t know the desk.
I offered to baby sit, obviously, but after 10 minutes he dismissed me. Quote: I can take it from here, it’s a very simple desk.
He then took 15 minutes with a SM58 doing some adjustments to the main EQ, and I asked him if there was a problem and he looked at me, with a very susprised look and said:
Are you aware that these is a very precise Equaliser on the Desk? I mean, we change a frequency and you hear the precise change coming out on the speakers. How much does this cost again???

Also, did an event where the tech guy was a “strictly analogue desk for me” but, hey this is what you have. again, 5 mnts baby sitting and he went on to mix the show. After the show I ask: How do you feel about the desk? and he says: Can I take it with me?

These things happen on a regular basis but still they say…OOHHH you don’t have a DIGICO, or at least an M7CL?

Reading some of these posts makes you wonder if some people are not using their iLive consoles while waiting for the new firmware.
Or maybe some people like the gear for using gyzmos, and value number of gizmos above stability and quality?

Maybe some people signing In are just using the forum for speaking ill of the brand, looking for what some users complain to use as ammo!

ILive consoles 1.83 works. Does everything it advertises in a stable and competent fashion. That should be enough. More functions on this system are wellcome, but if it doesn’t do something you need it to, then why did you bought it to begin with?

If the new firmware adds features, maybe they would do well to charge for the download. If people REALLY NEED those new features they’ll be glad to pay. Just like the MixPad.

    So,

OOPSS. I downloaded the 32Bit option, and I’m running Win7/64Bits
    Talk about a rookye mistake!

So it’s installed, but when I press the ON button it says:

    DVS Error
    Audio Driver Failed (512)

    What am I missing here?
Currently I’m just running this withou anything connected since I don’t have the M-Dante card yet. Can I test this without the hardware?

    Thanks…

    Thank Gil,

One other thing I came across today is JoeCo BlackBox Recorder, that now has a BBR-Dante version, suposedly you can connect the iLive system with a Dante card on to the BlackBox Recorder and record multitrack on the hard drive.

Has anyone looked into that yet?

    Thanks again.

PS: Gil Parente is a very “Portuguese” name. Any relation??? Just wondering…

    Hi,

Thanks everyone for your input. It was most helpfull and I now have more data to make a decision.

There was, however, one coment made that alerted me to an issue I never even considered.

    Connectivity with other systems!

I was under the (apparently wrong) impression that iLive didn’t “play well with others”. A few months back, before I had the 2 systems, I used an analog stage rack to split FOH and MON, FOH was my T112 and MON was an M7CL. I now think that there migth be a digital solution for this, eventually connecting my iLive system to another brand system using a 3rd party card on both mixers.

Am I correct in this assumption?

Which solution would be better for both this situation and Multitrack recording, considering my colleagues here in Portugal have a lot of Yamaha and Digico systems?

Also, a bit off topic here, can I connect the new GLD surface to the iLive system using an ACE Card?

    Hey, I think that’s all, for now…

    Thanks for your input

    Thanks for the tip.
Which one would be more easily acceptable in a live sound recording atmosphere?
Recording a band or Artists performance for future editing on cd or on a video production, for example.

As for the ACE option, at the very least it would simplify things.

    Thanks,

Actualy, because I have an iDR16, the extra inputs on the xDR will come in handy by themselves.
And I already have the extra ACE cards installed!
Can anyone recomend me a good software for multitrack recording using the Dante link?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the informations A&H.
That was what I was hoping to get, some official clarification concerning the problem.
I am now more confident with the equipment and the necessary repair.

Since I just bought in October a new iDR16, that was delivered last month, I hope that your assurance that new racks don’t have this problem aplies to this one also. Logically ot should, but how can I be sure?

Can I give you the serial number here on the forum or should I leave it to my supplier to check?

Best regards and, once again, thanks for the feedback and clarification.

Well, hot and humid is not our thing here in the Winter time, but it did pass the night with the flightcase opened and in an old monastery, so lots of temperature swings there.
I am now worried because you are mentioning a board change AND a power mod, wich are two diffent things, so I hope my supplier does that mod also.
After all, this was the first time this happened in an iLive here in Portugal, and I am a bit worried about the repair.
But I’ll keep you guys posted. Thanks for the input

    Thanks for your feedback Poland.

Glad to hear from 2 sources that it’s an easy fix. Now I just hope my local dealer hurries with the repair, so I can forget about it.

    Will keep you posted,

    Best regards,

    Rui

I know that all manufacturers have problems.
And I’m glad that it is not widespread.

But it’s a b**** when it happens tou YOU! Especially when you have a setup day that goes flawless and when you arrive to start the next day your sound board doesn’t work…
These things take years of life out of you, so I apologise for sounding a bit edgy!
