I agree there need to be more pick-off point options, and it would be nice to select those per output, NOT per bus or matrix. As another example, this would allow you to send a program feed to the broadcast or foyer but have it delayed to the video feed WITHOUT wasting an extra matrix to add the delay.

I made a post requesting soft mute groups a couple weeks ago. The lack of this feature makes my soundchecks so difficult, and it’s almost not worth using mute groups without it.

    Keith,

Thanks for the reply. This addresses my issue. I still think it would be nice to view the pk level of all channels, so if one channel is clipping within it, you get a pk light. The fact that there are so many requests for it means we’re looking for the signal and it’s not there. It’s just a quick way to tell you’re getting signal within that DCA.

No, soloing is not what I want to do. Say I’m doing virtual or realtime soundcheck and want to listen to one or a few channels at a time through the PA. The current configuration disallows me from using mute groups because the mute group overrides the channel mute, and I have to hard-mute all channels before opening the mute group, and remember to un-hard-mute them before show. It’s not like there are many options for mute group control on the SQ-5 either, with limited soft keys.

+1. I have not gotten tripped up by this, but it’d be more intuitive to make it latching/nonlatching just like the talkback.

As I see it, the main issue is getting back to the PEQ screen after adjusting the HPF while ‘Screen follows surface’ is turned on. It takes you away from the workflow, and it would be nice even to have the eq “band” buttons take you back to the PEQ screen. I also prefer to see the HPF as part of my PEQ. Call it classical conditioning. 😉

I like all of these suggestions and agree about the waste of a softkey, especially as an SQ5 user. 🙂
