This is interesting indeed, I too use the TP-Link media converters with Gigace, 4 units plus a spare (๐Ÿ˜‰) but the single mode and multi mode thing is news, wish I had this information earlier. It has been very reliable system for sure.
I think the longest distance I have tried is 250m surface to mix rack. I have also used optical connectivity on the MADI card to feed various broadcast trucks again all successfully .
Great system might have to give the 10Gb networks a look, thanks

Stefan is quite correct it is that simple, it is about the most flexible mixing system that I am aware of. You just select the require input source and then the destination and hit apply.๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ah that old chestnut, I moaned about the omission of local monitor outs switching from iLive to D Live but that was not a requested feature. Yes must admit by the time I purchased the DX32, the extra PSU and loaded with the required cards it cost more than my SQ5. It will be fun to try it with some Prime cards when they finally drop through the door.๐Ÿ˜Ž

Agreed that would be a useful feature for orchestral work, sadly that is the exception not the rule so canโ€™t see it happening anytime soon.โ˜น๏ธ

I would go for the fibre via a pair of media converters it works great.
I use two pairs of the exact TP-Link converters to handle my GigAce link between rack and stage. Off the top of my head they were about ยฃ50 each converter, 4 Neutrik opticalcons and some patch leads. Job done.

Personally I donโ€™t know of any PSUโ€™s from the D Live range that have failed, true I do fit redundant units to all my D-Live stock but this may be me being over cautious.
To the best of my knowledge there is not a hard drive in a D-Live there certainly was not in the iLive.
    Not sure if this helps?

Not learn’t much but Clock should always be at the forefront of the mind in digital world:-)
I too would leave the gain tracking alone and go the set to enough and “lock to trim” +1 on the profile but add Yamaha to that list.
The D Live’s MADI card is amazing when playing with Digico and linking to Braodcast trucks.

I have no idea what a “Desk Saver” is, if you mean a cover then yes, can’t remember how much they cost but you local dealer should be able to give you a price. I remember at the time thinking it was rather expensive but at least it fitted, which is more than I can say for the one my S7000.

Most definitely. please be aware of the physical limits of the cables though.
I know with certain cables ACE would run to 120m (350ft ish) but never pushed my luck over 75-80m. You will also get some loss within the barrel also but I would have thought you would be good for easily 200ft.

Wouldn’t dream of running a digital mixing system without a UPS, they are dirt cheap and buy a ton of security.
Hard drive wise my vote again is for the SSD Small ones are relatively cheap these days and you can always transfer the files to a mass storage drive back at the office. Another consideration is if the recordings are that important you need to be running a backup system as well, so Dante into a Gigabit switch feeding two machines, or better still take the redundant Dante stream to a second machine, though simple switches do seem pretty reliable, also feed power to your switch from the UPS as well.

    Just my five pennyworth.

Surely the routing button and the I/O button on the surface is fairly self explanatory?
Even to a very old Luddite like me. Pretty similar to most digital consoles I have seen, Digico, Yamaha etc. Only thing I suffer from is fat finger syndrome, so expand the view to give big touch pads.๐Ÿ˜‰

Must admit I reported it to Tech Support over the weekend but avoided the forum after that, makes you wonder why clever morons don’t put their efforts into more useful exercise? I guess deletion from the gene pool is too much to ask for. ๐Ÿ™‚

The prime cards certainly have not.
