Ah yes! Of course. That would work nicely. I could put the DCA on bank one for run of the mill control of FOH levels and hide the actual faders away on bank 4, so I could alter their relative gain if I wanted to and I have access to the mix of the sub when I want to change the assignment of channels to the sub. Very nice solution. Thanks.

2014/07/24 at 11:45 am #41016Nicola, I THINK what he is saying is that IIF the fader value is “jittering” randomly, AND you press reset, then it acts as if you had moved the fader in one direction or the other, and it then causes it to move to 0 or unity without you touching the fader at all. If so, then I can see this would be unnerving to say the least! But the underlying issue seems to be this jitter of the fader value. Could be due to a flakey physical fader I guess?

2014/07/07 at 7:52 am #40632I believe the that this can occur also based upon your power up sequence.
Is this actually the case? I don’t see anything in the manual recommending a required, or even preferred, power up sequence. Is there a sequence that should be avoided?
Or are you suggesting that if you have a switch between the GLD and the AR you should power THAT up first? I could see that that might be a good idea.

GLD monitor out can be compatible with Avion A-16 stations – not too sure about their hubs! Are suggesting it might NOT work connecting A-16s to the monitor port via an Aviom hub, but would only work daisy-chaining them? Connecting via a hub is certainly something we would want to do.

2014/05/05 at 9:22 am #39571The “manual” technique of assigning all the layers to be the same certainly works, but I can’t find a way of making “freeze in layer” save in a scene.
But if there were a way to set the initial layer in a scene that would be so much more elegant.

2014/05/03 at 6:44 am #39533Ah! There’s no freeze in layers button on the editor:-( I’ll have to wait till I get my hands on the real hardware, I think.

2014/05/03 at 6:35 am #39532Ah yes! I see what you mean. Good thinking. I’ll give that a go.
Thanks.
2014/05/02 at 6:14 pm #39526Good ideas, but the problem is there are two classes of user. Those who know about and use the multiple layers, and those who know nothing and basically just switch on and poke the occasional fader. Since it defaults to layer A when you switch on, those will never see anything other than layer A, UNLESS someone has been using it before them and leaves it on, with some other layer selected.
I guess the solution is education, but if there were a single “make it like normal” button, that would be an easier task. I think logging in would be beyond such users 🙁
Thanks anyway.
2014/04/04 at 2:51 pm #38735Is it a hardware limitation that prevents the gld having multitrack USB recording or streaming to a computer as on the QU? Or is it that there is some upper bound on the number which is deemed ok for QU but would appear to be an unacceptable limitation on the GLD? Eg would say a max of 16 or 24 be possible, but not the full complement of channels.
I.e is support for this something that could potentially come in a future software update, or is it forever impossible. 16 channels would be really handy for the occasional multitrack recording, especially since the alternative of Dante is quite expensive for casual use, and the normal analogue alternative of plugging a multichannel sound card into the direct outs is not feasible without using up nearly all the outs.
Just curious.
What’s the situation A&H?
2013/12/13 at 3:37 pm #36829Aha! I re-booted, and now it is behaving exactly as you describe. I’d previously tried re-starting the editor multiple times, but the strangeness persisted. Must have been some strange state that windows got into, but I didn’t notice any issues with any other programs.
2013/12/11 at 4:43 pm #36774Very odd. Dragging out removes it, and attempting to drag out again does nothing. Dragging out,THEN double clicking causes a crash.
Single clicking causes it to be removed (same as dragging out), but single clicking on a “spacer” does nothing. Double clicking on a spacer always causes a crash. -
