I think reaper is your best option when it comes to recording software. Both are free but reaper just works better. Yes you can route a stereo send back to the desk it will use channel 1 and 2 I believe in reaper I haven’t done it for a while. Go to YouTube and Allen and heath for video’s on the qu 32 it was a big help for me. And also the flash drive is a quick way to record but it will do all the tracks plus a stereo track I think it only does 16 individuals and a pair of stereos if my memory is correct.

I just copy the tracks that I want when I move them to the computer and then format the hard drive for the next recording. Or like Markpaman said just use a usb b to usb cable go into the computer and record only the channels you want.

Group, Mix, Matrix outputs – Balanced XLR line
level outputs for the mono and stereo mixes, for example to
feed monitor amplifiers, external processing devices, delay
fill speaker systems and recording devices. These use low
impedance, high quality differential driver circuits for
connection to +4 or 0dBu equipment. Maximum output is
+22dBu.
Professional equipment provides ‘balanced’ connections for
maximum interference rejection over long cable runs. If you
are connecting to ‘unbalanced’ equipment then make sure
the XLR pin 3 (signal cold) is linked to pin 1 (signal ground)

I’m not sure if this could be a help to your problem or not. I hooked up a set of bose array speakers to the main outs left and right and used a 1/4 inch unbalanced to a balance xlr and got all kind of noise it sounded low and so on. Maybe you could talk to a place like guitar center and ask them the questions and see what they say.

i’t sounds like no one has any info on this subject. I just like the computer because it seams to have more functions than a app plus it has more area to work with less sliding of screens. also I don’t have an ipad.
