    Great, thanks!

+1, that or a function revert option of the rotaries.

If you mean having several inputs active to a matrix, use groups to have redundant audio flow. Sure, it’s not a route everything to anything matrix, but since there are a bunch of busses availiable on the console, routing by bus input>bus>matrix might work fine in many scenarios.

Still just a tip to make it work. It’s not prefwrred since it uses up busses, might be tight when you do need them all.

Hmm.. How do you mean? You must be able to safe and mute your matrixes without problems?

Tho, I understand a need to be able to send a processed channel to matrix. A workaround until that can be made could be to make a direct out from a channel and route it back to a matrix ext in? Hardwire, will waste some connections but maybe the best solution to it now. If not, I may not understand the problem. šŸ™‚

Ok.. I have the workaround working. To have this working uncheck the safes for the IP8.

    1. Set a layout with your channel strips assigned to the IP8. Save that as a “master scene”.
    2. Save a copy of it and choose “Block all” on the recall filter except the IP8. in that scene, make the IP8 buttons “MUTE+SEL”. Name the scene IP8 MUTE+SEL.
    3. Save a copy of the scene above and name it “IP8 MIX+PFL”. Edit the settings in this scene for the IP8 buttons to “MIX”+”PFL” and save it.

Put the IP8 scenes on 2 preferred softkeys on the surface.

This workaround doesn’t solve the mix follows pfl-issue, but atleast it makes the IP8 usable as a sidecart where you don’t have to double the strip assignment to the surface as well, to access the full functionality of your busses.

Well.. Seams like everything on the IP8 has static functions.

Hmm. Maybe I can program the IP8 with recall filters to alternate between “SEL”+”MUTE” and “MIX+PFL”. Workaround with some work put into it.. Maybe.

Also, there’s a problem when having input channels on the IP8. Hitting “Mix” to send on faders, the input faders on the IP8 doesn’t flip.

I have it connected to the dlive>Surface>IP controller>Devices.

Hi guys, Iā€™m having the same issue, did you get Mix follow PAFL to work @Jon?

Want to be able to have an IP8 softkey for mute, and the other softkey to mix IEM with PAFL.

You can use EXT IN on the Matrix?

@scruffyd, Well since I have an S3000-surface, I like to keep things on few faders. Three keyboards + backtracks etc. becomes many faders, and having mixed pre/post settings on input channels after an initial surface setup is not very logical imo. I don’t want the console to decide anything I haven’t set up for it.

I am not seeking tips about what to have pre/post and why, been doing this quite a while. I am speaking workflow.

The same goes for the home button thing. On a DiGiCo or Yamaha console, your chosen settings for the rotary encoders stays where you last left them. Coming from one of those consoles, where you hit “home” for different reasons it might be confusing with the rotaries suddenly changing function. That is probably not the purpose you have when hitting that button. Therefore, it feels illogical and again, for me, it’s a hickup in the workflow. If I want another function, I want to hit the designed button for it, which is there.

There are workarounds, and there are simple and logical designs.
I just want to raise these questions because I suspect I will not be the only one wondering. Without input from people in the field, the software programmers may leave functions in an illogical way, simply because they are not sound engineers themselves.

Some might want to leave it “as is”, I feel there is a way or an implemented option or design that can improve an already stellar console. It’s still young and history has shown alot of improvement over time on other consoles. If we can contribute to such development through this forum – which I believe we can, is the reason I raised these questions.

…Driving in rain and rage, I am back home with 2 new adapters. Thunderbolt 3 -> Thunderbolt 2 -> Ethernet works as a charm. Anything else will give you headache.

Problem solved new Macbook Pro users! ..Until next fancy connector generation..

…But what I do find strange, is that the USB-Ethernet adapter that works fine with soundgrid on the Surface Pro doesn’t work with the Macbook Pro going through an USB-C -> USB 3.0 adapter. It must be something about how the Macbook / MacOS handles USB traffic.

I have now tried the Satechi USB Type-C Multi-Port Adapter 4K. Doesn’t work. Ticks and clicks just as the Belkin adapter.

Gonna have to go the Thunderbolt 3-> Thunderbolt 2 -> Ethernet way. Pretty tired with Apple’s new non-pro computers now. Works as a charm on my Microsoft Surface Pro, (USB-Ethernet) but that machine is intended for wireless Director use, not as a multitrack recorder…

Another thing.. After pressing the “home” button, rotaries reverts it’s selected funktion from Pan to Gain. Not fun when you’re doing panning for IEM’s and hit Home between the systems.

Otherwise I love every time I can bring my dLive to a venue and mix om it!
