Hi RayH,
just to put a hint as I myself got some trouble when playing with different dante routings in show/scene management. As far as I understood I/O routing (mix rack, surface, port is stored in scene memory. So if you are working with multiple scenes make sure that routing is put to scene safe or stored in every scene as required.
Are all mapping gone or only the ones from master or slave mix rack?
I usually work with iDR48/T112/dante based on v1.83 and all works fine.

Darmstadt / Germany2011/12/06 at 10:36 am #29267Hi Tyler, Tim,
I’m working just the same way as Tyler described basically. The remote app I use is cloud connect. It’s a all in one file transfer/remote app running fine with macs. I’ve got jump desktop as well but I feel more familiar with cloud connect.
It’s basically the idea of having a redundancy for system access/control if power/network lines to FoH fails in any case.

Darmstadt / Germany2011/12/06 at 10:19 am #29266I totally agree to ddff! Central support and in particular the local crew in Germany is a matter of fact to tell everybody A&H iLive is the right choice to work with.
Thank you, guys! Well done! Go ahead…Cheers

Darmstadt / Germany2011/12/05 at 9:43 am #29154Hello Richard,
it sounds just like my trouble I got first time working with dante. Some hints from me, even they are know:
The ConMon issue I think is only relevant to old version of DVS and Controller. Make sure to have true latest versions installed (DVS=3.2.1 Controller= 3.1.2)
Random clicks in Audio are due to wrong system clocking. Only one system can be the master in the network. If you’re working with more than one MixRack make sure one is set to audio sync=internal in mixer preferences. Other mix rack set to audio sync = port B (=dante)
Make sure that in dante controller app the iDR which is set to audio Sync = internal is tagged as “preferred master” at clock role and slave to external word clock is tagged.
I’ working with a setup quite similar and two MBP’s for recording, running very reliable. I use different DAW’s related to customers preferences ( ProTools, Logic, Cubase. Reaper) all latest versions/releases.

Darmstadt / Germany2011/11/22 at 12:28 pm #29088It feels a bit like MERCEDES or BMW, doesn’t it?
I used MADI with Coax-Cabling and RME MADIface during 2010 until Dante came up. After some month experience with MADI my conclusion is:Both are working fine!
Though today MDAI is a more usual standard even in broadcast and big installation environments, Dante is the more modern solution, serving more flexibility, more functionality.
Basically MADI is a point to point connection which is fine for single system recording purposes. Using multiple iDRs or 3rd party systems, more recorders, other stuff.. this works only with Dante as it is a open network solution.br Gunter

Darmstadt / Germany2011/11/15 at 9:16 am #29010Hi All,
the features I most often missed are:
1) FX-Parameter access
2) Scene access (up/down/go)
3) Copy / paste parameters (mainly during GEQing AUXes for wedges)
4) more custom layersRe: Tyler’s hint to APFL-audio via WLAN. I think that should work!
@ the A&H guys: please feedback on this!
Cheers,
Gunter

Darmstadt / Germany2011/11/14 at 11:22 pm #29006I’m using Dante since it got available. It works absolutely fine and reliable in different configurations of:
iDr16 / iDR48 / T112 / R72
MacBookPro i5 and i7 models, 4 / 8 BG RAM, 5400 / 7200rpm HDD
+external FW800 drives 5400 / 7200rpm
Cabling is Sommer Cat7 Mercator 70m + patch length, Netgear switch
ProTools 9/10, Steinberg Cubase/Nuendo, Reaper, Logoc Pro 9
JoeCo BBR-DanteI’d set up a configuration with above equipment for load test simulation during SAE Alumni Convention VII in Berlin, Oktober 13-14th, covering all available Dante channels, running 9-10 h per day. No faults detected! More info see: https://www.facebook.com/dLRecording
Result: DANTE on iLive = reliable, scaleable, easy to use

Darmstadt / Germany2011/11/07 at 2:10 pm #30044Hi All, I absolutely confirm Lieven’s statements as I got same experiences and I’m running my setup quite similar. The 2.4GHz is a NOGO as all standard WIFI devices and Bluetooth and… are polluting this range. I tested a couple of different router/antenna positions as well but today I use a twin-router config as 5GHz needs physically a line of sight and covers max. 40-50m (standard routers as DLink815 etc.). One Router on top of mix rack-case for stage purposes only (monitor check etc.) and second router close to may working position (FoH, mixing position). Important is that both iPad receives router and vice versa for a stable connection and is not disturbed by many other devices (10-30% of crowd brings a smart-phone today I expect) being active in this frequency range. I think in long term aspects WiFi will become a more and more critical path for remote control applications, unless it get’s special or professional frequencies.
Cheers!

2011/11/07 at 1:00 pm #30043XML-files doc is in my interest as well. Quite sure that there is one existing, but how to make it available to techs being able to read and understand.
rgds Gunter2010/11/16 at 1:35 am #26783Looks like there’s a problem with iDR48 and firmware release 1.71. After having Firmware 1.71 successfully loaded, and worked with some T112 stored shows, tonight the system died after loading a show prepared with mac editor 1.71
Fist failure were dead audio inputs while new show channels in surface were already loaded. After powering down and rebooting iDR48 and T112 the message “boot failure iDR48” came up.Hope German Service can fix the faults quickly.
