Back to the original post….. exactly how much equipment are you trying to connect/run. Just the dLive system, or the entire rack including amps, etc…..

If I read the initial post correctly, you have Dante controller and Protools installed on an iMac.
Have you recently updated the iMac software? I have read of problems in other control systems(ie lighting control) caused by recent IOS updates.
Did you recently update the Protools software?
Check your Dante Virtual Soundcard software, make sure the service is started…. I’ve that happen on our recording PC more times than I can count. We have it set for automatic start when the computer boots, but sometimes the program doesn’t start, even though the Dante controller starts just fine.

Paul, how are your ME1’s wired, chained direct from a rack, individual from a switch, etc…..
We have had some issues from time to time, usually only affects 1 head at a time, but either way, we power cycle the MEU switch and it fixes the issues.

So how about this: set the gain at a usable level at the master system, then use only digital trim on BOTH systems–don’t touch the gain after initial set.

    What Brad suggested…. +1
I do the same thing with one of my ganged inputs with fader only ganging. Either control the difference with the input trim, or the compressor output level.

What I have seen with the dLive, the scene filtering is done at the time of recall not saving. I’m under the impression that it saves all, then you decide what is allowed to be recalled with the ‘recall filter’.
Setup what you want to be scene save(not subject to changing on a scene recall), then with the scene recall filtering option you select what you allow to be recalled with each scene. The in/out patch-bay patching is listed under the “other” option button.

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but this is my impression of how the system works. A little bit different than the older generation iLive.

Not sure what your system setup is, but I’ve discovered over the years as we have expanded our system we have had the fastest boot times with a single mix rack and small show files.
Now we run a dual rack(master/slave), Dante network for MEU and recording/playback, it takes almost 4 minutes to boot the surface, even though the racks are up and processing in less than 1 minute.
We did the UPS system for the surface and master rack, it does keep the surface up during a power outage event, but even when the power comes back on, (or us anyway) it still takes 2-3 minutes to re-establish lock links to the slave rack. So it didn’t gain us much, other than power spike protection…. which is still a good thing.

If the Dlive is like the iLive, you cannot access the show files on mix rack from the director software….
Director software only looks at the local PC for show files, whether recalling or saving.

It’s not hard…. we do it with some of our wt that do not do in-ears, only floor wedges.
Take the mono output thru a DI box, then hardwire to a system input for routing.

This way they can make their own mix, and I still have volume and mute control of the floor wedge signal.

I”m not the design engineer, but I would venture to suspect that it is because the effects are process in a separate “process engine” in the mix rack, and not part of the surface functions that the copy/paste are a part of.

Does the surface boot, other than the touch screen? If so, have you tried the DL5000SystemManager program to see what it can do for you. I personally have not used it with an active surface, but my thinking was that it was supposed to be able to “replace” a non-functioning touchscreen and allow surface operation…. not sure about show file access, not 100% sure where they are stored. Some of the show functions were moved to the mix racks with 1.9 firmware, but that may only be the scene names.

Don’t forget to configure the Dante card thru “Dante Controller” for the actual signal routing. ie what channel are allowed to be available to what devices on the network, and what direction the channels are allowed to travel.

Not a cure all answer, but you could hide your WIFI so the SSID isn’t openly broadcast.
At least it is an attempt to slow down ‘wana-be’ hackers that may be “curious”…. yet still allow system access to those that require it.

I’ve not been hands-on with the dLive system yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the same.

Something else to be aware of if you use a computer with Editor software, if you want to save a show file with the computer, it is saved on the computer(either internal or a USB stick)—not in the iLive system….
When the engineers designed the software, for some reason they didn’t configure it to point to the system for saving/recalling show files when connected on-line, or at least give you the option to save/recall to/from the system.
