I seem to remember that this was logged as a feature suggestion some time ago.

The reason I read, and I believe it to be valid, is that the HPF is part of the input circuitry of the mixer, not the EQ section. In my opinion, an HPF should not be considered EQ. It is to remove unwanted low frequency audio whereas EQ enhances what is already there. In saying that I still look for the HPF control in the EQ section so maybe that indicates that the control belongs there.

I would not write off the FBA, like any tool it needs to be used offline to allow yourself to familiarize yourself with its foibles. It cannot be used without the usual anti-feedback precautions that should be taken at any gig.
Proper placement of microphones in relationship to speakers, preferably a choice off mics, Cardiod and SuperCardiod to allow for awkward FoH or monitor speakers. Once all that is done, maybe you could use the FBA.

I find its the same with Auto Gain. It takes too long to lett every mic be set by Auto Gain. I set them manually. If we had a long time to set up, it would not be a problem but so often we have just 1 hour to set up.

Why is it unprofessional? On the Siundcraft Ui range you hold your finger on the fader and eventually it switches to fine control. In the heat of the moment I find the AH method more reliable.

    Yes sounds like AMM.

2.4GHz can also struggle if you use Bluetooth. The 5.8GHz signal is pretty robust.

Yes it just unscrews, I believe it’s different on the CQ18.

I got the antenna today, it is an RP-SMA connector. The one I bought is longer than the existing one and is not ideal but it works and gives a stronger signal than the stock antenna.

Beats Soundcraft, one after 3 years and six years of silence.

Based on your experience, I have ordered a third party replacement antenna. It should arrive this week so I will update you later.

In analogue terms it looks like the swept miss is missing on the ZEDi10 but adds 4 USB play/rec.

Dies anyone miss the swept mids?

I think we and A&H need to look at what else is around in this sector of the market. Although it might seem strange, think less about impinging on other AH products and more about the sector. Having been”Keith” in another company I can tell you that having a bigger share of lower priced category can boost rather than inhibit the sales of the high end products.

I only have experience of the smaller Behringer and the Soundcraft UIs before buying the CQ20. The Soundcraft range almost mimics the CQs and it was hard for me to decide whether to upgrade from the Ui16 to a Ui24R or the CQ20.

If we look at the Ui24R, it has all the features you suggest (from memory) but is about $100 dollars more. It also has more inputs and more Aux buses.

The Ui16 has the important Mix Groups and mute groups but inferior preamps to both the Ui24R and CQ20. My decision to buy was based on a belief that AH could not resist putting the two main requests, DCA/ Mix Groups and Mute Groups on a future software update. Mixing Station has proved that there are software solutions to these.

I have a suspicion that the matrix is a hardware limitation. Either way there is a lot AH can do to improve the range.

I believe that the connector is RP-SMA but am willing to be corrected.

No you just need one that has the same connector. However you may be able to get the exact one from A&H.

I missed this thread so started my own however I will post my thoughts here as I posted them elsewhere and I agree with Brian this is my post

Since I have been on this forum I have been looking at the suggested new features. I am sure that Keith and the Back Room Boys ( is that a K-Pop band)?

There are 2/3 that are way way ahead of all the others.

    1. Mute Groups.
    2. DCA/Mix Groups

In my opinion, coming from a Soundcraft Ui background, these are the two features that I also miss most.

Over several threads, these two subjects have gained over 100 votes each. Rather than chasing some of the more obscure requests, can I ask that the software developers concentrate on these two features?

Coming from a Soundcraft Ui16, I find it frustrating as both Mote Groups and Sub(Mix) groups are there on the native app (browser). To be fair to A&H, that console is now close to 10 years old, being launched in 2015 and the major firmware update was in 2018 and I seem to remember that is when most of these features were added.

However that knowledge of features in this market segment was known to before the CQ series was launched and a thorough market analysis should have been undertaken before launch.

Do I regret buying the CQ20? No, thge sound quality and the low noise preamps alone are worth it but for a few dollars(GBP) more I could have bought the Ui24R with a much bigger feature set, I/O capability and supposedly better mic pres.

As Brian says we can get around some of these things by using Mixing Station or other “hacks”. However these take time and the CQ is supposed to save time.
