Oh… 🙂
I was wondering, “Why is the ‘Arts & Entertainment’ cable channel hawking thumb drives? 😉2017/04/20 at 3:12 pm #63050As far as I could tell, I would only “see” meter clipping indicators flash, which would prompt the adjustments on the gain settings.
At a certain juncture, I just happened to have my display screen on the QuDrive page, and noticed the “error count” tab up in conjunction with instances of the clip indicators flashing.
I wasn’t able to pick up on any discernible artifacts on the WAV’s themselves, other than for the “hiccuping/skipping”, which correlated to the moments just prior to the WAV noticeably getting “turned down”.
Purely circumstantial evidence, I know… but still.2017/04/19 at 4:13 pm #63015In the last few weeks I’ve experienced “error” messages while recording as well, but noticed that it might be correlated to instances of clipping.
With one “punky” band, I noticed that I got “error” messages during a song where the bassist banged hard on his strings, and caused a bit of clipping.
With another more “heavy metal” act, the singer had a vocal processor that he decided to turn the volume up on without warning me. This caused a few seconds of clipping before I could readjust my preamp gain.
In both instances, When I got a chance to mixdown the tracks, there were “hiccups” and “skips” almost exactly where the clipping had occurred.
Is this a known side effect of allowing clipping to happen while using the Qu Drive, and if so, might this explain the OP’s issue?2017/04/17 at 8:30 am #62957Agreed that the problems would potentially manifest more obviously between live sets, when pre-recorded music would be flowing through the FOH L-R mix.
2017/04/15 at 6:37 pm #62912Understood about the whole stereo thing… that’s why I put the word in quotation marks in the original post! 😉
Their speaker processor/amp rack is set up to accept L/R feed, but most who do sound there just mix “right down the middle”.
Before this venue went with their digital “B-mixer”, they had an old Yamaha analog board which had a “mono” out, and that’s how they got used to feeding that patio speaker back then.
Many thanks for the helpful info!2016/06/15 at 7:23 pm #56632Same here… thrice.
2016/03/28 at 10:26 pm #54801Quick update; my daughter thought to buy me one of those PNY thumb drives because she heard me discussing it with my son… and it worked!
I have gone ahead and filled out the form/questionnaire to let A&H know all the particulars.Attachments:

2016/03/21 at 6:33 pm #54687Good day all!
A question of “general compatibility”.
If a 16GB USB 3.0 drive from a particular manufacturer (PNY) worked to transfer software updates to the mixer, does that necessarily indicate a higher likelihood of a larger drive from the same maker being compatible with the QuDrive?2014/10/27 at 6:57 pm #42521The relative lack of forum traffic could be a direct reflection of the ‘trouble-free’, intuitive nature of the Qu’s design!

2014/05/21 at 10:57 pm #39870Hey cornelius!
Yeah, that was what I did to get in the proverbial ballpark. I was just wondering if any of you more clever types had another way of getting to the ‘promised land’. -
