I am troubleshooting Dante as the goal is to use some of the virtual Dante features on a Mac. In the process I get same subnet errors, yet today the Avantis successfully connects to another board.
Why a network port and a Dante port, especially connected to the same switch? There is only one IP setting on the Avantis. It doesn’t indicate that it’s Dante. The manual doesn’t seem to distinguish.
The goal is to properly config and isolate the Dante network. Thanks

If you have the card’s switch set to combine those networks, then the two addresses will be in the same subnet. If you want to isolate the Dante network, you need to make sure that switch is not set to combine/bridge the two networks, and then you need to make sure the two networks (Dante and regular) are either physically isolated (using a different switch/router for each) or isolated using unique VLANs for each network (if your network supports and is set up for VLANs). There is no way to isolate the Dante network if you plug everything into the same non-VLAN enabled switch.
Just like the console’s Dante card, every other Dante device will need to be connected to the isolated Dante network. This means if you also want your Mac computer to have access to the rest of the facility’s network (for internet access for example), then you will need a secondary way of connecting to the facility’s other isolated internets. This might be through Wifi if the computer has that built in, or it might be through a second internet adapter (via USB for example). Long story short, you’ll need two unique ways of connecting the Mac computer to two unique and isolated networks – one for Dante and one for regular use.

On a Mac, you need to NOT be on Wifi. You need Ethernet, and generally USB adapters work, but I’d check here (https://www.getdante.com/support/faq/dvs-usb-ethernet-adaptor-choice-for-macos-systems/) to make sure.
The Mac I have connected to Dante is a MacMini using it’s ethernet port on 10.226.70.20. Everything Dante lives on that subnet. Avantis is at 10.226.70.11, a Q-Sys Core Nano is at 10.226.70.13. I also have some Shure ULX-D stuff running to the Avantis over Dante. When I use my MacBook Pro, I use a USB C dongle that has ethernet, and set it to something in that IP Range and make sure all the Dante stuff uses that interface.
You also need a switch that supports Dante. I’ve been using the D-Link DGS-1210 series switches and they work great with Dante and Q-Sys.
