I’m trying to setup my FX send levels on the custom rotary. I can’t understand how should I set this up. I know ther is the “send level option but that requires me to choose a receive channel. However there shouldn’t be a receive channel since it’s an FX send.

2024/09/23 at 5:12 pm #125865AllaiuzzuParticipantYou mean setting the same send and receive channel? It doesn’t work.

The FX has a send dial per channel, and it has a master fader for it’s send bus.
That is available as a strip with its own mix button.
Press the mix button to select what is attached to the rotaries if set as send level.2024/09/25 at 10:25 am #125919AllaiuzzuParticipantI need the rotaries to always work without depenging on the selected mix or selected channel (the “channel locked” mode).
I don’t think this is (currently) possible.2024/09/25 at 12:59 pm #125926SQuserParticipantMaybe I (we) don’t understand you correctly yet.

Can we assume that you don’t mean the “Custom Rotary” (see image), but the “Channel Strip Rotary Functions” under “Surface Prefs” in order to have access to an FX send for each input channel in the layer?> I know ther is the “send level option but that requires me to choose a receive channel.
But in both cases: Where can you find the “Receive Channel” you described?
In any case, when setting the rotary as “FX Send”, the “Channel Number” is the respective FX channel, i.e. your FX engine.Attachments:

The reason is that I wanted the rotary to act like an FX master send and not the send level of a specific channel. The reason I need this is that I have some FX that receives signal from different channels and I need to “globally” set the fx send level (the master bus send). I’d like to set this functionality on the custom raotaries (the ones on the right of the screen) because I dont have any space left for the FX master fader on the channel strip.Hope I explained myself 🙂

On SQ6 it’s child’s play to assign an FX master send to a Rotary, but on Avantis it seems impossible.
I don’t have an Avantis at home and could only try it with the Director – for a very long time – but in vain – it defies my logic.
Like you, I’m curious to find a solution.2024/09/26 at 8:30 am #125948AllaiuzzuParticipantI think it’s just not possible. I hope they’ll add this feature in future updates, I’ll probably write another post on feature suggestions.
Thanks anyway
