Absolutely you’ll be able to give them faders and mutes. EQ and dynamics are out of the question though. We need a little hardware surface that emulates the Editor’s super-channel! Oh, wait, that’s the R72 :) :) :)

This looks good at least to get things moving. I can see two scenarios playing out:
    1. engineer needs > 48 (+surface12) channels of input and therefore gets 2 MixRacks running in Master/Slave.

    2. Engineer wants more other stuff and so therefore uses second mixrack NOT as slave but independent with Computer or second surface control (e.g. R72) and uses the Port B ES connection to tie the systems together as though patched. This way he gets to submix e.g. for strings / choirs Glam metal drum kits, extra FX that can be added to these sub mixes and also, with good planning, group and route from the MixRack1-2 for extra output busses.

I really like the way this is so versatile and getting better as we go.

Oh, what happens when you want to have a mix with a direct connection from an input overlaid on the mix output (Alt. input?) – this won’t work with the Master/Slave set up will it?

How about: Mixes in Master can be mirrored on Slave and the Alt Input can be added from slave.

    Hi Tuejo, Wouter

The weight of the R72, unboxed (with side trims) is 12 Kg.

In terms of set up possibilities, the R72 can do everything that the T80 can. The main differences in terms of the interface are that the R72 has 6 layers instead of 4, the PEQ/PreAmp/HPF must be adjusted using the touch screen, and there is the addition of a ‘Channel Processing’ button, which takes you to the processing for the selected channel, no matter which ‘setup’ page you are in. The PAFL In/Out LEDs have also been moved to on-screen indicators in the lower status bar on the touch screen.
The analogue level control for the rear monitor outs has also been removed – monitor out level can be adjusted using the PAFL trim in the PAFL setup page.

    Cheers

I would also like to find more details, technical specs, as well as the user manual of the R72 on the website.

I would like to check how the R72 and the T80 compare in terms of set-up and possibilities. I was actually surprised that the price gap between the T80 and the R72 isn’t that big.

    Hi Gary

The Graphic EQ on the R72 is available on both the Touchscreen and the surface faders. You press the GEQ button on the surface upto 4 times to cycle through all of the frequency bands.

    Hope this helps

A Google seach came up with this from Sonicstate.com

    Pricing and Availability:
The iDR-16 and iLive-R72 will be available from February 2010 at SRP:
    iLive-R72 £5114 + VAT
    iDR-16 £2983 + VAT

Price seems a bit steep, maybe there’s some discount available as there normally is on most equipment…

    Cheers,

    Gary.

The links I posted above to Prosoundweb above seem to have a strange behaviour – if you click on them you may get a error or file not found message – however if you then hit your browser refresh button the links then work.

Here’s another link which is to the original article https://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/m/395413/0/?srch=ilive+scene+save#msg_395413
Scroll down to my later posts and you can also find the attached images there.

I still haven’t done the demo video – will try to find time but just to busy most of the time.
I will be interested to see the pricing on the new IDR16 and the iLive R72 surface. The R72 could be the best solution to having a compact FOH set up like the Mackie control/Laptop and custom logic environment I use on smaller jobs.
Pity they didn’t make the screen fold down like a laptop so the unit was much smaller again!
