Sadly you have no channel ganging on the SQ, so no way to do a normal ganging of two (or more) faders regardless if they are mono or stereo…

What dp you use as “On Air” main LR ?

On the OffAir layer ( B as I understand it), make sure the channels used there are not routed to the Broadcast main.

Just to rule out a quick setup:
mic 1 goes via pysical input 1.
pysical input one is in the I/O mapped to channels 1 + 21 (example)
Channel 1 is mapped to OnAir layer and assigned to the Broadcast main LR (guess you use one of the AUXes as Broadcast main then)
Channel 21 is mapped to OffAir/recording layer and assigend to the Recording main (a different AUX)
Channel 1 is not assigned to the recording AUX, AND channel 21 is not assigned to the Broadcast AUX

Not sure if that is how you have done it, but that might be one of the ways I would setup for broadcast+recording dual ability.

1: just patch Main to say USB 15+16, just like they were to 1+2 in the standard setup.

2: Make sure you record to a stick or better USB SSD harddrive, to allow for fast enough write speed.
I have seen a lot of USB sticks claim to be 100MB/s+, but that was only the read speed as the write was 10-12MB/s. (some even slower)

    +1 for dca spill/roll out.
So used to it on other consoles when doing musicals.

True, but if your spinning disk is too slow to write the data, then you miss the recording anyway.

I record onto a SSD, then transfer the recording to a USB spinning disk and finally to my NAS at home (that has a backup done once a day)

Yes it works without a waves soundcard, as it is a simple normal multitrack recording/playback program.

Regarding your pc, part of it comes down to how fast a harddrive you have.
For all 32 tracks I would recommend upgrading to a SSD drive, if you do not already have that in the computer.

Waves Tracks Live, free and works fine for tracking/playback.

Been using it for several shows both on Dante consoles, and on my SQ5 with no problems at all.
Just make sure your harddrive is fast enough to write the tracks.

Mine did that too, but as soon as I pressed record all tracks filled up with the patched channels.

I can only say that 28 tracks, recording using Waves Tracks live, onto my medio 2011 Mac book Pro, has yet to fail me.
Granted, I changed the harddrive to a SSD.

Most problems I have heard about, was due to people having all sorts of “enhancements” on their PC, like Norton or similar Antivirus, several “pc power helpers” and all kinds of programs/apps/bloatware not needed during the show.

    Connected how?
one cable for left and another for right?
Or an “insert” cable with a TRS to two TS.?

Odd as I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3.2 without any problems.

You did remember to unzip the file and copy the .bin file to your USB ?

When on the main fader, use the assign button and de-select the channels you want to route via the group.

As default “aux” 9-12 are set up as four stereo groups, choose one of these and assign the channels to that group.

Default you have the group masters on layer D

You can record 16, just patch them to the SQ-drive in the I/O menu.
Default it has L-R patched to track 1-2, but you can patch it as you want.

Log into the switch and force one (or all) the ports to 100Mbit, then the console ‘should’ default to D-Snake mode.

At least that is what my SQ5 did, when I just connected to a 100Mbit switch.
